3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 laiti (1667) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 19, 2012
50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 12.01.2011
Aroma has malt, grain and hints of caramel. Flavour is somewhat malty with berries typical to danish ales. Also hints of toffee, nuts and caramel. Feels English and Danish at the same time. Blah.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oysteib (23) - NORWAY - DEC 28, 2011
From bottle. Amber color. It calls itself a christmas beer, and as such, was a big surprise. The taste is dominated by sweetness with some sour and very little bitterness. It has aromas of fermented apples, and hints of citrus. All in all, it is reminiscent of a Belgian blond - which is not what is expected from a Norwegian christmas beer.

0.5l bottle @ the brewpub. This is a near clear light bronze beer with a small light sidesticking off-white head. The aroma is light fruity and kinda mild, but there’s a nice little fruity hint. Not much reminding me of a Christmas beer though? It has a average carbonation level and a light and mild oily to watery mouthfeel. Not much of Christmas flavors either to be honest. It’s quite mild, a little hint of watery fruits and perhaps some really mild grassy tones towards the finish. Really mild and not to exciting, still no off-flavors and not a directly a bad brew - just kinda boring.

0.5 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Amber color. The aromas of white wine and strawberry. Sweet nutty and honeyish flavor with hints of white wine and raisins. Fizzy palate. Empty taste, like maltiness had been stripped off.

(Bottled, rated 2010-12-18) Slightly hazy copper with a smallish, firm head. Sweetish-malty doppelbock nose with a worty feel and some dried fruit. Citrusy-worty, sourish flavor with dull, metallic roughness, and hardly any hops.Quite light body, lots of CO2. Somewhat worty and watery brew, that hardly warms in the wintertime.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 TET (786) - FINLAND - DEC 31, 2010
Copper brown beer with quite big and beige head. Aroma is toffeeish and malty, some berries; quite nice. Lot of carbonation and quite light body. Flavour is slightly roasted, quite dry, some toffee and hint of red currants. This beer is easy to forget, only middle quality.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BeerBaboon (967) - FINLAND - DEC 28, 2010
Kuparinen ja hieman samea olut valkoisella vaahdolla. Maltainen, viljainen, hedelmäinen ja hieman karamellinen tuoksu. Pehmeä ja viljainen olut, jossa mausteet tunkevat ainakin itselläni vasta maussa esiin. Valitettavasti maussa on myös tiskivetimäisyyttä. Karkea jälkimaku, jossa kuitenkin myös hedelmiä.

Bottle (50cl) from Varnaveien Mineralvann, Moss. BB 30.10.2012. Slightly hazy coppery amber colour. Inch-thick offwhite head, OK retention. Aroma of cookies, apple cider, butter (somewhat akin to Belgian tripel, but lighter). Taste is quite fruity/acidic with caramel notes and light hop bitterness. Aftertaste is weaker, metallic and papery. Light/medium body, average/fizzy carbonation. Less xmassy than most Norwegian xmas beers.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 ClubGonzo (1943) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 17, 2010
Bottle from Meny, Bergen Storsenter - they now have most of Ægir’s lower-strength ABV beers here! :-) Pours a light nougat body with a foamy, large white head. Aroma is sour-ish pale malt notes and hints of wort. Not very enticing. Taste is lightly roasted malts, wort and grassy hops. Kinda watery palate. If I didn’t feel a slight warming alcohol, I’d say this is easily mistaken for a low alcohol; the prominent wort-ness, the bland malt profile... Not a faulty brew per se, just...dull. Seriously, the difference between the green label 7,0% Julebrygg and this one is like night and day. One of the few letdowns I’ve had from Ægir.
