A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s pre NYE tasting. Cloudy amber with a thin off white head. Straight forward Scandinavian Christmas beer smell. A little more bitter than the regular in the flavour however. Nice and fruity too. All the usual Christmas spice is there but it’s the extra bitterness that makes this one pretty decent.

Bottle at Chris o New Year tasting 08/09. It’s an alright Christmas beer. Some nice drinkability. Good bitterness, nice fruit. Reminds me of a fruity English bitter.

500ml bottle from Fenaknoken in Oslo. The body colour is amber-orange with a slight haze. It is covered by a frothy, beige head, slowly fading while leaving fair lacing on the glass. Dry fruity smell of some kind of Christmas cake. The malts have got taste of caramel and bread, joined by cloves and a touch of cinnamon behind. Ends in a modest way with bittersweet spiciness and a note of yeast. Soft in the mouth with a mild oily texture. Medium bodied. A notch better than other Norwegian juleøl at this abv level [enjoying the spirits of Yuletide at home in Tromsø, 25.12.2008].

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. Batch 057JB. It poured a slightly dark orange colour with a huge off-white creamy head that settled down slowly in the glass. Visible carbonation. The aroma is a bit sour and smells of yeast, syrup and malts. The aroma is a bit spicy and tastes of cinnamon and gingerbread, but it is too thin and watery for a christmas beer. It has a lingering aftertaste.

Bottle. Deep amber colour with a healthy head. Complex, spicy caramel aroma. Orange zest lingers in the nose. Some roast, very fruity with orange zest in the lead. Also moderate spiciness. well-balanced. Quite original for a Norwegian Christmas beer. Would not feel out of the place in Belgium.

Tasting at thewolf. Pours a hazy light brown with a very small head. Aroma of sweet caramel. Flavour is sweet on the tip of the tongue and then borring and watery.
