3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MadIndian (1902) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 2, 2012
Gift from SJ. I really enjoyed this. It was a good blend of many ingredients such as nuts, berry, citrus, caramel, spice and bread. It had a nice warming sensation.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Oysteib (23) - NORWAY - JAN 13, 2012
From bottle. Light brown color. Sweet, with slight bitterness. Surprising taste for a Norwegian christmas beer, but very very good. Reminiscent of a Belgian triple.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Foffern (272) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 29, 2011
Bottle at home. A hazy redbrown beer with an off-white head. Belgian yeast is most present in the aroma along with hints of berries and alcohol. Nice woody malt flavours with bitter berries and hint of alcohol. Medium bitterness. Medium+ body and slick mouthfeel. This a good ale, but nothing that reminds of christmas.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 tfredvik (369) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 25, 2011
Deep amber body that is quite clear, as far as I can see in my sparsely lit living room. The large, creamy, off-white head is long-lived and laces the glass very well. Malty aroma, but the dominating part is from the hops. That’s quite unusual for a christmas beer, isn’t it? There is also noticeable yeasty notes. Light fruits, mostly peach, and spices. As the aroma revealed, the taste is on the hoppy side: a moderate plus resinous bitterness and no more than a light sweetness. Lots of spices in the flavours, but not very christmassy. The light fruits dominate though, with some sweet orange and peach and plenty of bitter grapefruit. Quite dry, fruity finish. A bit watery texture, but the mouthfeel is still very good. A far more bitter, far less sweet and far more exciting than most of the christmas beers I’ve had so far this year, but perhaps also far less christmassy. On the other hand this must be a more fitting companion to pinnekjøtt™ or ribbe™ than the very sweet lagers?

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Finn (2610) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 7, 2011
Gyldenbrunt med litt rødskjær. Høyt luftig skum med litt farge. Skummet fester seg til glasset. Behagelig krydderaroma. Smaken litt frukt og litt krydder. Blir syrlig og bitter etter hvert. Litt julepreg. KI=6

Julen 2011. Amber body with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, orange, spice, hops and brown sugar. Not as x-masy as I expected, but it is still a really good beer. Fruty and floral finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 23, 2011
On tap @ the brewpub in Flåm. This one pours a light clouded deep deep amber - almost brownish - body with a nice small heavy lacing off-white head. The aroma is kinda sweet and herbal with bubble gum and thin banana hints. It has a average carbonation level and a slick and mild oily mouthfeel. Flavors are also kinda sweetish, but not too sweet. Almost a kinda artificial caramel-sweetness to be honest. Some banana here as well before it ends really mouthdrying with a nice bitterness. A good yuleale, and if I’m not completely mistaken I have two bottles from last year I will compare once I get a chance.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 esp0r (792) - NORWAY - NOV 4, 2011
Bottle enjoyed at home
Dark red, finger thick tanned head. Smells of banana or something close, caramel, clove and some other spices. Taste has quite little sweetness for this dark a beer, still quite malty. Also alot of roasted malts. Feel is quite oily, very nice palate. Finish has super power bitterness. A massive wall of hops for sure. Best part of this beer.
I like this beer alot but not sure if it hits the spot when coming to norwegian christmas beer. Not even when thinking micro breweries. Taking NØ God Jul and Underlig Jul & HB Bestefar, Nissefar and Nissemor the race is set - and i don’t think Ægir can match them with this beer. It’s good, but not hitting the spot
