3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black as night, with a small brownish head. Chocolate and caramel (strangely enough) in the nose. Sweet chocolate taste, with a good bitterness to round it off. Also raisin, and some coffee. The lynchburgbarreled version is better, but this is really enjoyable aswell!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A very sweet and slightly fruity dark black ale. Decent big beer
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed fresh the day of purchase from a Vinmonopolet in Norway
The look: Very near black body topped by a persistent small beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is blackened malts, sugar pie, dark fruits, dark bread, some alcohol fumes. Taste is fudge cake with crunchy cake icing, burnt caramel, brown sugar, dates, dried figs, some black liquorice, timid herbal hops. This is a very sweet beer that somehow avoids feeling cloying. Body was very full, almost too full but the active carbonation helped to lighten the mouthfeel. Overall it is a decent dessert beer but not something I found easy to drink. Looks like most people enjoyed this beer more than I did, maybe I’m wrong, I’m so unsure of my opinions that half the time I’m only 50% certain that 1 beer out of 2 is above or below average.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nydelig øl, farlig lett å like.

Thanks to Club Gonzo for the bottle
Jet black color, touches of ruby at the bottom of the glass. One finger, thick light mocha colored head. great staying power and body. Spotty lacing ad obvious ABV legs.
Nose is of roasted malts, sweet and salty licorice, caramel, chocolate, and touches of ash. Good nose.
Sweet licorice taste, mixed with a lot of caramel and some chocolate. Far closer to a US style stout with the sweetness.
Medium bodied and light carbonation. Gets more robust and bitter towards the mid and back palate but sweetness really carries this. Good dry herbal licorice finish. Better towards the back end as the dryness is a good counter measure to the front sweetness.
Kind of surprised on how very American this imperial porter is. not bad but was looking for more char and ash. Oh well

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ home. Black pour, thin tan head. Aroma of licorice, chocolate, caramel, roasty malts and some sugars. Flavor is quite sweet, a bit bitter, a bit thin, roasty and sugary. The Lynchburg is much better.
