Pours black as night, with a small brownish head. Chocolate and caramel (strangely enough) in the nose. Sweet chocolate taste, with a good bitterness to round it off. Also raisin, and some coffee. The lynchburgbarreled version is better, but this is really enjoyable aswell!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A very sweet and slightly fruity dark black ale. Decent big beer
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed fresh the day of purchase from a Vinmonopolet in Norway
The look: Very near black body topped by a persistent small beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is blackened malts, sugar pie, dark fruits, dark bread, some alcohol fumes. Taste is fudge cake with crunchy cake icing, burnt caramel, brown sugar, dates, dried figs, some black liquorice, timid herbal hops. This is a very sweet beer that somehow avoids feeling cloying. Body was very full, almost too full but the active carbonation helped to lighten the mouthfeel. Overall it is a decent dessert beer but not something I found easy to drink. Looks like most people enjoyed this beer more than I did, maybe I’m wrong, I’m so unsure of my opinions that half the time I’m only 50% certain that 1 beer out of 2 is above or below average.
