4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 chimplechamp (601) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 15, 2011
One damn tasty beer. Bottle at brygghuset. Nose is chocolate, coffee, definitely hoppy, more leafy kind of amazing that they shine through. some licorice. really nice nose. Taste is smooth coffee, with a nice tender hoppiness throughout. One of the best of any norwegian brews I’ve had to date.

Batch 160, bought in Daglighallen, Trondheim. A great imperial porter with loads of caramel taste. Raisins, nuts and some vanilla is also present. One of the better porters I have tasted.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 stunetii (90) - Bergen, NORWAY, NORWAY - MAR 27, 2011
In my view, this is one of the best Ægir products that I’ve had thus far. Pours with a dark brown – almost black – color with a small but well retained tan head. The lacing is pretty remarkable, being tight and sticky.
This ale is not amazingly aromatic. The aromas that are picked up include a very focused burnt coffee smell, with faint hints of licorice and chocolate. The creamy mouthfeel is accompanied by a variety of flavors, notably coffee, toffee and licorice. There’s a wonderfully bitter climax right before the finish, leading to an almond flavor that lingers on for a few minutes. What’s surprising about this is how easy it is to drink, largely due to the virtual absence of any alcohol taste. Overall, this is an excellent beer, despite the somewhat weak aroma.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Bathory (360) - Bryne, NORWAY - JUL 4, 2012
Pours all black with a brown lacing. Aroma of smoke, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Amazinligy good balance. Full bodied, with a nice moutfeel. The high alcohol is well hidden in the mouth, but gives a nice, warm feeling in the chest. To summarize it’s a really, really good ale, complex taste that’s well balanced, all you need from an imperial porter.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Unde (86) - FINLAND - JAN 26, 2013
Dark head, disappears quickly but leaves beautiful lacing to the glass. Scent and flavor is highly similar! Scent has just a little bit of chocolate in it. But taste has slightly more chocolate. Strong taste but it isn’t that powerful because of thickness. Pleasant beer.

Dark brown, almost black with a small head. Good aroma of coffee, licorice, roasted malt and with something sweet. I really liked the creamy mouth feel on this one, very good! Aftertaste was long and quite dry, a great beer!

500mL thanks to my Norwegian Secret Santa! Deep, clear mahogany pour. Thick, dense yellow foam. Webby, thick lace. Nose is more complex than the Jack Daniels BA version, Lynchburg. Dark chocolate/semisweet chocolate, brunes, black cherries, thick fudge. Bourbon comes through the nose even in this version- just more nuanced. Big vanillin, white cake, and coconut. Taste is mega dense, chewy fudge, mild citrus hoppy balance, lemon and lime zest, grapefruit. Palate is super dense, hoppy balanced. No iota of sugar or cloying. Oh yeah. This is some world class stuff. Mind blowing.

25.06.2011. 0,5l Bottle. Vinmonopolet Haugesund. Black colour with a thin layer of tan head. Very strong and rich aroma of dark malts, alcohol and dry bitter hops. There is roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate and some very bitter hops. The alcohol gives this beer a very strong body. Aftertaste is warm and gives a bitter dry mothfeel. Very good beer!!
