4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kestral (494) - Årnes, - OCT 5, 2011
Bottle. Pours impenetrable black with a creamy beige head. Delicious dark fruity aroma with sweet caramel, plums, port, light alcohol, perhaps slight vanilla. Flavour is as powerful and massive as you could have wanted. Pretty much the same notes going on, massive fruity sweetness with some liquorice and a surprisingly dry ending, making it scarily drinkable. This is so fruity and port-like that it feels like one of those delicious aged imperial stouts or porters. It could have been thicker and creamier, but dang, this is good. Need more of this.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 tfredvik (369) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 4, 2012
It might not be as black as a moonless night, as the label claims, but the body is at least close to black, with a brown tint. The brown head is quite small and fairly quickly it reduces to a thin film and bubbles clinging to the wall. Ok lacing. Many porters boast to be "chocolate monsters", but this one really deserves that nick: the aroma is massive sweet milk chocolate, absolutely fabulous! Also plenty of dark, sweet caramel. The aroma is lightly roasted, and in the background there is coffee, and dark dried fruits like raisin. The initial taste is moderate sweet and light bitter while the finish is moderate bitter. Again the chocolate is very present in the flavours, also caramel, faint coffee and a touch of alcohol in the finish, lightly roasted. The fruits are not dried, more like slightly overripe blue grapes. Soft carbonation, full body and a velvety chocolate mouthfeel, this is like drinking thick cocoa! A delicious brew, only lacking a bit in bitterness and hoppy notes.

KI=7

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mjs (2997) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 3, 2011
(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu, 20111203) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, hops, sweetness, liquorice, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. A bit too hoppy for a porter but still nice.
