English: Aegir was the brewer for the gods in Norse mythology. Ægir Brewery offers a number of beer types - from light to dark. Interestingly, Ægir Brewery with its heathen theme has now brewed a traditional abbey beer. Originally, Dubbels were brewed by monks. The beer is light brown in color, medium heavy with a flavor of dried fruits and spices from the yeast. Enjoy the beer with strong cheeses and robust food, or alone just for the pleasure.

Bottle, 500ml, from Vinmonompolet in Oslo. A cloudy reddish-brown colour with a small head. A strong chocolate malt aroma with fresh hop and plum notes. Maybe a hint of spice on the nose as well. Flavour is dominated by chocolate malt with notes of biscuit and fresh citrus hops. Some citrus, coffee and clove in the finish. A little banana bread coming through as it warms up. Moderate carbonation. Very nice indeed.

Pours a dark brown with two finger thick head that is beige and creamy. The aroma is very sweet, with strong dark fruit elements, caramel, and warming alcohol. The aroma isn’t backed up by the flavor, which is more dry than sweet, and more malty than it is fruity or spicy. Still, a very nice beer.
