COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Aegir was the brewer for the gods in Norse mythology. Ægir Brewery offers a number of beer types - from light to dark. Interestingly, Ægir Brewery with its heathen theme has now brewed a traditional abbey beer. Originally, Dubbels were brewed by monks. The beer is light brown in color, medium heavy with a flavor of dried fruits and spices from the yeast. Enjoy the beer with strong cheeses and robust food, or alone just for the pleasure.

Bottle (50cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Murky, reddish brown colour. Huge light beige head, reduces fairly rapidly to a stable film and a moderately sticky ring. Aroma needs some temperature to open up, and contains by ripe fruit (plums, banana, strawberry, orange peel), malt, hops, cake, alcohol, hint of licorice. Medium body, lively carbonation. Taste is quite sweet and alcoholic, nicely balanced by fruity acidity and a growing bitterness. Pleasant bittersweet aftertaste.

Hazy brown colour with an off white head. Fruity, spicy and moderate sweet caramell aroma. Very balanced fruity sweetness. Mild spicy and a fine caramell background. Just a little bit too much alcohol in the flavour.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, Tromsø Langnes. Drukket hjemme 19 Mai 12. Brun. Litt sedimenter i flaska. KI=6

Courtesy of Rune. Bottle. High creamy and long lasting off-white head. Hazy brown body. Sweet dried fruit aroma. Highly carbonated bittersweet flavor of dried fruit with a peppery note and a touch of caramel. Long dry and bitter roasted malt aftertaste.

Huge beige head. Hazy opaque amber body with strong carbonation. Syrupy spicy licorice aroma with herbal strawberry candy notes. Sweet-dryish herbal licorice taste with spicy notes. Fullish body. Sharpish, soft mouthfeel with slight heat. Dry herbal licorice aftertaste with roasty earthy spicy alcohol notes. Very nice and highly drinkable. Perhaps a bit sweet, and bit less harmonic than it could be. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 7.0%. Cloudy brown colour, huge off-white head. Pleasant typical dubbel aroma, notes of brown malts and brown kandij sugar, caramel and mild spices. Well rounded mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour, with the same elements as in the aroma. Moderate hops, as normal for the style. Very enjoyable, clearly a beer I’ll buy again.

500ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Big off-white head to a cloudy, dark orange coloured body. Aromatic with dried fruits and brown malts. Ripe oranges, plums in flavour thinned with dark spices and mild yeasty fruitiness. Dry bitter ending. Medium bodied. A well-crafted beer and good drinking on a Saturday eve (Tromsø, 05.05.2012).
