COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Aegir was the brewer for the gods in Norse mythology. Ægir Brewery offers a number of beer types - from light to dark. Interestingly, Ægir Brewery with its heathen theme has now brewed a traditional abbey beer. Originally, Dubbels were brewed by monks. The beer is light brown in color, medium heavy with a flavor of dried fruits and spices from the yeast. Enjoy the beer with strong cheeses and robust food, or alone just for the pleasure.

Bottle enjoyed at home
Dark murky brown with a big tanned head, some big ugly bubbles in there but still looks quite gorgeous. Smells of overripe fruits, yeast and of course malt. Taste is quite malty with a good heavy supportive sweetness. Then something i don’t like. With the malt and sweetness i also can find a distinct unpleasent sharp malt bitterness that disturbs the picture quite much, also the balance is tipped off. Then ironicly the body continues with some fruity raisins and dark fruits. Body is full, oily feel and soft carbonation. Then the real finish comes with a nice hoppy medium bitterness. I find earthy and fruity hops there. Totally this is some kind of disappointment for me. And all is ruined by the disturbanse in the flavor. The rest is ok

Brun kropp med vitt skum som avtar relativt snabbt. Viss sötma i aroman, lite bördig. Välbalanserad.

I think I bought this at Vinmonopolet in Vika. Fruity smell. Fruity and yeasty taste with some dried fruit.

Bottle - 500ml. Hazy copper body with a thin off-white creamy head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with grainy hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Taste carries geainy, herbal, and brown sugar notes. Ends with a decent bitter/grainy finish. Enjoyable, but not sure this corresponds to a Dubbel.

0.5 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Slightly hazy reddish brown color. Sweet caramel aroma with raisins. Sweet caramelly, nutty, toasty, raisins and slightly fruity taste with some peppery spiciness and hint of umami type of yeastiness. Medium to full body, rounded palate. Quite drinkable dubbel, there is some yeastiness which I’m not so fond of.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, from Alko Arkadia, 20130328) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and almost white. Aroma had malts, hops and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, hops, malts, caramell, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Quite hoppy for a dubbel. A bit confusing but not hard to drink.

@Gyllenbock: en svag doft men en trevlig fyllig smak med toner av torkat frukt. Kunde varit mycket mer av allt. Torr eftersmak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
