Unclear medium to dark brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, coffee dust, (like coffee beans from a piston coffee brewer). Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. (120408) Hildigöltur (5056), København Ø, Denmark Aug 6, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. 4,7% Served far too cold. Almost black coloured. Cocoa and coffee aroma and flavour. It also has some "green" notes (especially apples in the aroma). Very mild with a soft mouthfeel. Pretty good for a low alcohol porter. Maria (4725), Thisted, Denmark Apr 18, 2008 Tasting at my place. Courtesy of Yngwie & Gunnfryd- Brow/black with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, light sweetness and coffee. The flavour has a light sweetness, a rather light body, notes of roasted malt, light coffee and sweet licorice. The finish has a light and slightly dry bitterness. The overall impression is rather light, but at the same time tasty and charming. yngwie (3762), Kristiansand, Norway Apr 15, 2008 Bottle. It pours a rather muddy, dark brown, thin body with a small, beige head. Pleasant roasted nose with chocolate, cocoa and coffee and a weak note of dried fruits. Some earthy, yeast notes too, becoming more evident as it warms, but disappearing after a while. Sumbel is a bit thin on the palate, but at 4.7% ABV, that’s really excuseable. There’s flavors of coffee, sweetness, bitterness and chocolate like in a dark chocolate cake, and a hint of bonfire-like sourness, probably due to the dark malts. Quite dry in the mouth, with a pleasant co2 level. The finish is long and roasted, and there’s also a little flavor of chocolate. Bitterness from both hops and dark malt it seems. The hops is subdued in this beer, but as it warms up they are more pronounced giving it a nice addition to the aroma and flavor. Definately a beer that shouldn’t be served straight from the fridge, it needs some temperature to open up. (080415) rickgordon (3077), Göteborg, Sweden May 26, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Norøl.
Dark brown colour. Not much of complexity here, everything is light except the colour. Low bitterness, and only suggestions of what’s supposed to be in a porter.
