COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Papsoe (25089) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 9, 2010
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yngwie. Pours a cloudy reddish amber with an off-white head. Intensely hoppy aroma, nuts and overripe fruit. Very solid body, loads of caramel and overripe fruit with a slightly messy hoppiness - but there’s loads of it. Herbal hoppy finish with a massive alcohol burn. 090710

Ungstrup (29168) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUL 9, 2010
Bottled. A deep red beer with a light tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle (50cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. BB 12.5.2014. Slightly hazy reddish brown colour. Modest head that reduced quickly. Concentrated aroma of dried fruit (fig), sweet sherry, bitter spirit, wood. Full-bodied, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tremendous alcohol warmth. Good bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle. This barley wine shows some great potential and will be even better after some time in the cellar. Lots of dried fruits, like apricot, in the nose. Fat taste with lots of licorice in the aftertaste. Lots of alcohol in taste (in a rather good way).

thebeertourist (4774) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 18, 2010
Bottle at Olympen, Oslo. Cloudy, dark copper with almost no head. Potent apple, raisins and nuts aroma and flavours. Citrus and raisins blending with dry nuttiness. Yes, it is here at last, the ultimate Norwegian barley wine. Congrats, Ægir, this is a great achievement.

Kestral (506) - Årnes, NORWAY - FEB 3, 2010
Bottle. Pours a semidark reddish brown, a finger of tan head that recedes to a ring with swirls of white lines in the centre. Aroma is of caramel, light fruits, apples, spices, vanilla, alcohol and sugar. Hot on the tongue, not unlike a sherry, with notes of liqourice. Thick bodied, oily with sparse carbonation, making it a slow sipper. This is a bloody big beer. Heavy and hot, but not a bad tipple. A bit too hot though, in my opinion.
