Bottled. A deep red beer with a light tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yngwie. Pours a cloudy reddish amber with an off-white head. Intensely hoppy aroma, nuts and overripe fruit. Very solid body, loads of caramel and overripe fruit with a slightly messy hoppiness - but there’s loads of it. Herbal hoppy finish with a massive alcohol burn. 090710

Bottle at Grunnerloka. Clear amber beer. Big head - very pale tan. Smooth dry palate. Sweet malt - quite an intense caramel. Some hop, well buried. Inevitably some alcohol aniseed and warmth but generally copes with it’s high abv. Some slightly burned toffee in the head. Drinkable big ol’ barleywine!

I knew a guy named Thir once. He would have liked this one, I think. Clear amber color. Aroma of boozy caramel. Taste is like snorting pure caramel, and a bit of spice. East to get hammered drinking half a liter of this bad boy. Best shared.

Bottle. It’s a hazy copper-colored beer topped by a dark beige head. A real melange of aromas greet you welcome, generic dried fruits, rum-raisins, oxidation, caramel, some wort, citrus peel, some resin, cedar and nuts are all well integrated, but it’s some percent too strong to be really enjoyable. At least the alcohol is too evident. Still, it smells lovely. It’s full-bodied, oily and almost sticky, just like a fine mead, but the flavors are more diverse. A bit more hoppy flavors would have been fine, but I guess that’s hard to accomplish in a beer needing cellaring to mellow. At least there’s a decent amount of bitterness to deal with the sweetness. A bit too warm in the mouth, and it lasts for a while as well. I guess I’ll have to buy a few more to lay down in the cellar, it’s much smoother now than when I first tasted it in May 2009, but it will probably smoothen even more. Looking forward to it. 100805

Bottle at Mumsig Miniprovning, Göteborg. Hazy amber/copper beer with a small beige head. Malty aroma, bready, vinous, fruity, grainy notes. Malty bready flavor, vinous, spicy notes, some alcohol. A bit too much alcohol, and not totally interesting.
