500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Tromsø Langnes. Steady, off-white head to a near-clear, rustic coloured body. Spotty lacing to the glassware. Inviting aroma of chocolate malts supported by Christmas spices. Initial taste of chocolate and candy gradually joined by fresh fruity notes and herbal hops on a backbone of subdued ginger. Smooth, bittersweet finish. Well balanced and fine bodied. Nice Yuletide feel (Bella Notte at home, 24.12.2012).

Bottle (50cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Clear, dark amber/copper colour. Finger-thick yellowish-white head, good retention, sticks nicely to the glass and leaves some lacing. Sweet (and slightly sour), fruity-spicy aroma with Belgian ale yeast, caramel, cookies, dark orange marmalade, wine vinegar. Medium body, soft carbonation. Well-balanced, semi-sweet, round and dusty taste, somewhat more acidic than most Norwegian xmas beers (making it more refreshing), mild bitterness. Bitter-sweet aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish, with a finger thick creamy head. Aroma is cloves, molasses and cardamom. Full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with molasses, kandi and burned sugar, as well as a quite peppery spiciness. Dry, burned but yet quite fruity finish.

Bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Somewhat hazy amber beer with a nice lasting beige head. Floral cinnamon aroma, coriander, cardamom, malty, ginger, herbal, hay, grapes and some citrus. Pine flavor, cinnamon, citrus, grapes, raisins, herbal, woody, spicy, grass, some floral notes. Decent but not your ordinary Christmas-beer.

A quite dark brown, almost clear body with a red tint. The head is off-white and reduces to a fully lasting layer that laces the glass well. The aroma is fairly strong and very complex and pleasant. It’s sweet, roasted and has prominent malty and yeasty notes, and I get lots of spices, herbs and some sugary notes that reminds me of dark candi sugar. Far in the back there are also some vague funky hints. The taste is initially moderate sweet and very light bitter, then the bitterness increases to moderate intensity in the finish, along with a very light sourness. The flavours are strong and delicious. Roasted notes, lots of spices, yeast, faint dark dried fruits, dark candi sugar, a touch of pleasant alcohol and a whiff of smoke. Medium to full body and a lovely smooth texture that goes well will the soft carbonation. A very interesting and delightful christmas beer!
[50 cl bottle, enjoyed 2 years before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]
