UPDATED: JUL 8, 2011 Sampled at the AeppelTreow winery near Burlington, Wisconsin. Pours a crystal clear pinot gris colored perry cider with a clean disk top. Lighter in body compared to the regular Poirissimo! it has an aroma of light pear, alcohol, and vanilla. Taste is smooth vodka character with a hint of tart pear and some tannin. Finish has a dry and tart pear aftertaste with a strong alcohol bite at first then a sharp bitterness that slowly disappears. Lots of character change when this perry come to room temperature.

The 2009 vintage has a hazy salmon orange colored perry that must not be decanted. The new vintage has more pear flavor and less alcohol bite than the 2008 vintage. Still has its sharp bitterness and then a softer finish. Unlike any Ice Perry I’ve ever tried. If you like the regular Poirissimo, you’re in for one treat.
