UPDATED: AUG 24, 2005 Bottle (330ml) shared with blankboy. Poured a clear, sparkling gold with a large foamy, slightly rocky white head - very pretty lacing left on glass. Aroma was a sharply sweet malt, banana, spices, a hint of ash, very lightly hoppy, spruce and citrus. Flavour was sweet fruity malt, some ashiness, mixed spices and some hops at the finish. An engaging fizzy mouthfeel, the alcohol asserts itself quietly but powerfully. Very nicely balanced and refreshing - puts me in mind of several Unibroue offerings.

Bouteille, LCBO, Novembre 2004.

Some beers just get it right. Peach-golden body, chardonnay like. Thick head of white bubbles, special for this style. Smells lightly of clove spice, vanilla, lime freshness, corn and coriander. Taste is sweet and delicious with the right amount of dryness from the clove and coriander. Drying carbonated water finish. And to think, this cost less than a dollar at TJ’s

Very bready aromas, also some spices and a musty, nutty smell. The beer is an average-looking yellow-gold-blond. Palate is rougher than I expected. Lots of effervescence, however, added to the champagne-y weight of the beer. Flavors do not live up to the promise of the aromas here. Malt, nuts, and a little hop fruit are all that emerge.

Paris - Very nice gold color, another wheaty nose but I had a little cold. Taste is similar, but there is a bite to it. There is a very whack aftertaste though.

A beer returned from Ontario by my loving wife. My first good beer in quite a while, so I’m a little rusty. Foamy frothy head which lasted. Decent lacing. Blond and amber colour with some haze. A nice looking beer poured up in my Chimay glass. Aroma was nice at first with something like dried apricot in there. But then there was this metallic smell added in. Decent beer overall, but that metallic smell and taste, kind of like sucking on a dime, was weird.

Buena rubia. Belga y de Abadia. Lo que pasa es que esta demasiado gasificada, me imagino que para que dure mas.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pale amber with a lovely, fluffy head - only a slight haze. Very pronounced maltiness, some fruits in there too - from the top-yeast. Very bitter finish makes this one well-balanced and refreshing indeed. 291297
