3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Frothmeister (235) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 2, 2011
330ml bottle. 6.8% alc/vol. Pours a cloudy light orange with a white head. Alcohol is apparent in nose. Aromas of honey, yeast, citrus, dried fruit. Taste wise it’s strange. Like a combination of a Belgian, and British styled ale. Malt heavy, with metallic hops, dough, floral notes, and faint fruitiness with some soapy notes in the considerably bitter finish. A bit of a let down.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beer2000 (2919) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 1, 2011
330 ml bottle. Clear golden with a light, white head. Aroma is light fruity and spicy. Flavor is mild, sweet malt, hint of honey and some spices. Not much bitter. Quite plain and a bit too sweet for me.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 rampmaster (643) - Alden, New York, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 11.2oz bottle into a tulip glass. It has a "produced on date" date but no abv.
Appearance: It has a hazy orange amber body with tons of beautiful champagne like carbonation. In fact this one slowly bubbled up out of the bottle right after I opened it. From the pour it builds a tall frothy off white head that hang on well and makes lots of lacing on the glass.
Smell: Funky and fruity Belgian yeast notes hit the nose with sweet bready maltiness and a touch of phenolic medicinal Band-Aid.
Taste/Palate: Like the nose I get the funky fruity yeast and sweet bready character with a touch of spicy/leafy hops. This brings some mellow bitterness and dryness to the finish. The palate has a very drinkable medium body with lively carbonation.
Notes: Classic funk, classic malt, classic Belgian well made ale!
