COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Affligem Blonde, the classic clear blonde abbey ale, with a gentle roundness and 6.8% alcohol. Low on bitterness, it is eminently drinkable.

Bottle. Pours an opaque gold color w/ a nice, frothy white head and a bit of lacing. Aromas of spice, malt, and a hint of bread. Certainly a spicy edge to the flavor. Light to medium bodied. A bit peppery on the finish. For something that is ultimately corporate (Heineken being the ultimate corporate master) it is pretty good.

Pours a gold shade with light lacing. Aroma of bread, hay and friut. Taste is citrus, bubblegum, and something off on the back end. Medium body. Excellent blonde overall. Reminds me of the yeasty taste in Unibroue beers.

Bottle looks very simple, but good, the beer in the glass very zippy, nice head. Starts strong, a bit dry fruity with notes of lemon, more and more spicy. Well balanced finish, quite drinkable. Nice!

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2011 Light orange beer with quickly dissolving head. Fresh beer, citrus, grass, wood, some darker roasted hints. Tingling body, good taste development. Bit one sided though. Really enjoyable. (On bottle at De Stadthouder, Leiden)

Poured from a 12oz chilled bottle into a plastic kegger style cup at Psycho Suzi’s in NE Mpls. Pours a light golden orange color with loads of foam <Note to self, pour much more gently next time> and very thick lacing that lasted to the end. I smell and taste bananas, cloves and a hint of vanilla. Light body with lots of tiny bubbles in the mouthfeel. This was an excellent refreshing beer for a hot sticky summer day on Suzi’s Tiki deck.

75cl bottle with a cork. Once the wire is off, the cork can be removed nice and easy with a loud pop. You feel the lively carbonation first. Next comes a wonderful hint of pear, followed by lingering alcohol. A creamy white head tops this medium golden brew. Almost seems to sparkle in the chalice. The light sour rounds it out. A tingly mouth feel from the carbonation and alcohol. Nice. It’s pretty easy to drink. I gotta say I wasn’t sure if I’d like this one as much as I have been enjoying it. I’ll be drinking Affligem’s Blond again. I was able to buy this in a beer store in Brussels last June. Saved it for a special occasion. Today is Grey Cup Sunday. Go Riders!
