3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Nagash (202) - Paris, FRANCE - SEP 18, 2002
Fruity, spicy, original taste.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 softale (188) - Michigan, USA - SEP 10, 2002
A nice golden orange color. Aroma is very tripel-like. Fruity and spicy. Taste is pretty hoppy actually with a slightly bitter finish. Not too bad, and I wanted to try out my new Affligem chalice today.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mwsf (360) - San Francisco, California, USA - AUG 31, 2002
Cloudy blonde color. Big head after a moderately rough pour. Bananas, alcohol, and some spiciness in the aroma. Not much hop aroma at all in mine. Slightly sweet, slightly malty, banana, yeasty flavors. Medium-to-light bodied. A tad watery. This is a nice easy drinking beer. I was a little shocked to see 7% ABV -- it doesn’t seem like it, even for a Belgian.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Panzuriel (1080) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2002
Nice beer but a little old in the bottle. Nice aroma, but a little stale. Nice color and head. Good crisp flavor, but a little "old pilsener" tasting. Tart turning to sweet/bad. Slowly. Good texture.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 joet (1875) - Fulton, California, USA - AUG 19, 2002
A fun beer -- it tastes like a Belgian aping a Pilsener. Nice color and lacing. What smells like Hallertauer, a little hit of Brettanomyces, and a catty aroma with citrus hues. Spicy mock-Saaz hop finish disguising a powerful beer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 herbjones (742) - Orange, California, USA - AUG 5, 2002
honey colored beer with a huge white head. Aroma was mild for a belgian but still nice. Citrus fruit and a litte sugar. Flavor was better than the nose would suggest. A good beer, might not represent the style as well as some others but still very drinkable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 OlJuntan64 (1266) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 4, 2002
Medium gold clear over a huge white small bubbled, lasting head making some nice lace. Initial aroma strongly reminiscent of wheat beer. As it warms up, faint fruit and something soapy and metallic emerge. Aroma is wheat but bigger body and feel is a bit more Belgian like. Crisp bitter and wheat beer flavour. Milder bitter middle and a faint sweetness in the finish and aftertaste. Would probably rate higher if it was a wheat beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 crdic (105) - California, USA - JUL 26, 2002
This is an acceptable but unspectacular blonde Belgian abbey ale with a monstrous head and a sweet flavor.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 Nuffield (3083) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 25, 2002
Interesting (strange?) combination fo flavors. Mild aroma but more taste. Good carbonation, rather lively. (on tap, Lowlander, Drury Lane, London)
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2002
Pretty nice stuff, slight sweet start, yeasty character, perfumy, slight pepper taste, smooth body, not mind blowing, but solid.
