Middle of the road belgian. Tasted on tap at Max’s in Baltimore. Yeast spiciness and loads of grainy flavors, nothing really stands out.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Presentation: 12oz bottle
Pours a golden amber clear color, effervescent with lots of debris swimming around. The head is full and white with large soap-like bubbles and clingy lace. The head retention is fair and reduces to a fine layer.
The aroma is fruity, malty, of bread, hops and a spicy background. The flavor starts out dry with sweet/tart middle and a lingering peppery finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, fully carbonated with a tart finish.
IMHO: nothing to write home about. The beer has a nice mouthfeel and a distinctive flavor, but the dryness and bitter finish are not compensated for in the balance. As with most of the higher alcohol beers, it improves as it nears room temp - becoming more smooth and sweet.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared with a friend. Poured with a frothy white head in an Affligem trappist glass. Nose was of yeast, coriander and a touch of malt. Taste was similarly of malt, bananas, with a dash of cloves. Easy finish, and oddly refreshing.

I picked up a sixer of this stuff at the grocery store simply because they didn’t have much else. I have tried the Noel from these guys, and it was delicious, so I thought this couldn’t be too bad. I am not disappointed. I love the high carbonation and slight sourness to this beer. It has a nice yeasty aroma, and taste, and is very well rounded. A nice light mouthfeel. Even a few hints of banana and clove. Simple, pretty decent session beer.

I had a pint, yes a pint, at a place in france not realising the percentage, and the fact it cost about Ł6, ah those silly ’euros’ you spend willy nilly. It was fairly good, not knowing the % made me get drunk really quickly. The taste kinda lingers in your mouth in the morning though, which is bad.

Blond bier met een gemiddelde schuimkraag. Geurige neus, discrete smaak met fruitige toetsen. Zwakke afdronk. Een klassieker maar geen topper.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice golden orange color. Aroma is very tripel-like. Fruity and spicy. Taste is pretty hoppy actually with a slightly bitter finish. Not too bad, and I wanted to try out my new Affligem chalice today.

I really enjoyed this beer. Much lighter than what I’ve been drinking lately. It was very smooth, gold in color and something you could chug in an emergency....I liked it better than Orval.
