1st November 2012
Bottle masquerading as Moretti Grand Cru in a dodgy tourist restaurant, Taormina, Sicily. Light haze on this amber beer, big cream coloured head. Palate is crispy and slightly dry. Sweetish malts and a little pepper. Dried fruit, tangy. Touch of banana ester. Semi dry finish. All right.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
50cl bottle from Carrefour. Golden beer with thin white head. Some yeast/citrus/candy sugar/caramel aromas. Not great in mouth with over carbonation. Slightly metallic. Candy sugar dominates then harsh hops. Not a good construction and poor balance

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Slightly hazy, golden beer with an off-white head. Malt, cellar and fruits in the aroma. Some metal too. The flavor starts with some alcohol, then spices, malt and hops. Medium body and a dry finish. Ok, it’s better than the regular Norwegian pilsner, but when compared to other Belgians, it doesn’t stand out from the crowd. (060623)

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, alc. 6.8 % (BB 10/2005)
Hazy golden, honey-like color, firm small white head. Weak fruity nose with some grassy notes. Medium-bodied, hints of sugar then some fruityness and ending to hoppy bitterness. Quite drinkable and balanced but flavors could be stronger.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Peachy-orange colour, rocky head and slow, mellow carbonation makes for an impressive lead-in. The aroma shows at first white pepper, then moves on to mango, banana and sweet malt. It’s a little bit firm with white peppery alcohol notes, but this is just a foil against a lot of sweet malts. Dusty yeast notes add accent, as do light apricotty esters.
