3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 FlacoAlto (3143) - Tucson, USA - AUG 19, 2005
Pours with a three finger thick, frothy, large bubbled, rocky, lacing, pale tan colored head that sits atop a hazy, orangish gold colored beer. The aroma is faintly malty at first with notes of lightly toasted malt, it then picks up a lightly astringent, almost spicy note that reminds me a bit of basil, bergamot and fresh cut weeds. All in all the aroma is fairly subdued though.
This beer is pretty well carbonated and it foams effervescently as it rolls across my tongue for the first time. There is a malty sweetness here that lasts throughout, which accentuates a soft orange-fruit note that is in this beer. This beer has a bit of a sharp bite to it as well, a combination of the carbonation and the spicy character of this brew. The finish has a long subtle note that reminds me of vanilla cream, sort of in a softly sweet lightly mouth-coating way. This beer is slightly herbal in character, yet balanced by a citrusy fruitiness, and rounded out by a bit of spiciness (ginger and pepper being most notable).
This beer is very well made, there is certainly nothing off-putting here, but I still feel that it lacks a certain something. While all of the flavors are nice, it is lacking either an intensity or an interesting quality that would keep me coming back for more.

Tap at Cheeky Monk. Poured a hazy pale yellow, with a frothy white head. Aroma is spice, banana, yeast, herbal, some bread and biscuit, as well. Taste is herbal and somewhat medicinal, with hints of spice, coriander, and yeast, leading to bread and biscuit on the finish. Mouthfeel is light with lively carbonation. Complex and refreshing; a great Belgian for summer.
3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ACD (89) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAY 18, 2012
33cl bottle. Deep blonde/orange pour with huge fluffy bright white head, loads of thick lacing - great looking beer, as a Belgian blonde should. Complex spicy yeast, citrus, thick bready malt on the nose. Taste much the same, lovely smooth maltiness, sugar, interesting yeast notes, light citrus bitterness, very dry finish, lovely carbonation makes for a fairly full mouthfeel. Very refreshing blonde ale.

On tap at Les Distilleries Idéales in Nice, enjoyed outside in a goblet
Golden with a white head. Smells of spice, grass and malts. Taste is not as malty as i expected, medium sweetness. You can feel the spicy hops already in the body. Nice texture, medium bodied and soft carbonation. Finish has a quite descent bitterness, i find it between light and medium, it’s full of grassy and spicy hops. Nice beer in a city without much beer at all

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange yellow color. Fluffy white head. Nose was citrus, spice, and slightly nutty. Flavors were orange peel, wheat, and coriander. A bit fruity, and very strong on palate. Much better as it warmed toward room temp. Solid.

6 pack on sale at Franprix. Doesn’t really smell like anything. Maybe sugar? Gold and clear. More sugary than Leffe, and more sour. Better than Grimbergen, at least. Leffe remains the king of French grocery store, major-owned abbey beers!
