Pours gold into a tulip. White head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Sweet biscuit and caramel aromas. Dry with sweet caramel and pear upfront turning slightly sour in the lasting nutty hay finish.

11,9,9,10,10,9 - 9,40 - 30/9/12

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a big and slightly off-white foamy head. Slightly sugary cara-malty aroma with fruity notes of apricots, bubblegum and a shy bready touch. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a prickly carbonation. Mildly bready cara-malty taste with fruity accents; dry-ish finish by Belgian standards with mildly spicy notes and a subtle note of sourness. Easy-going Belgian Ale. 28.VIII.12

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2012 33cl bottle, Cellier des Arcades, Arras. Pours a nice golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: booze, pale malt, old hops, peach, cherry, citrus, honey. Flavour: Interesting way in which the dry hops play off the rather sweet and rich malt body, with some booze and fruity esters such as apple. Slight metallic aspect as well. Finishes well with tasty lingering malty aspects. Nothing mind-blowing, with a few flaws, but quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Poured into a chalice. Nice golden color with fluffy head. Lots of carbonation keeps the head active, and no lacing on the glass.. Faint aroma, but a little bit of bitterness on the palate.Taste is of hay grass and has astringent finish.

Bottle. Golden, hazy, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate malty - some wheat and sugary sweetish aroma, light fruitiness and yeastiness (coriander, light pepper). Body is medium, malty - light wheat and sugary sweetish flavor, light fruitiness and spiciness, light alcohol. Finish is short to average, malty and sweetish, some sharp spiciness and some alcohol. Sugary sweetish blonde ale from Heineken. Quadruple hopped????

Bottle ten minste houbaar tot 10.04.14. Nose is very, very sweet sugar and yeast, mild lemon, orange peel, and vague fruit. Golden body with a rocky, creamy white head. Taste starts sweet and does dry a bit, Pilsner malt with deft bitterness and Belgian yeast. Medium-full body, harsh feel at first, really heavy carbonation, and cold booze warming (it’s not hot, just sort of ... raw). Basic blonde.

Small to medium off-white head, fast receding over big-bubbled copperish-golden beer. Caramelly, malty, probably candi sugar. Bit of garden weeds/grassy. Faint acidity; bitterness behind partly burnt caramel, maybe partly hops - but the overall result is metallic. Like something kept in corrugated barrels, some old wood. Retronasal flavour as from way overripe peach. Warming up, some faint bready/yeasty notes. Very highly carbonated, to the pont of agressiveness. Light to medium boided, quite slick, but giving somehow a raw alcohol impression. Ho-hum. Affligem can do better, certainly for a celebration beer. Underwhelming.
