750 cc bottle from Capone’s. I am utterly amazed that I am rating this one yet have never had the Affligem blonde. Pours canary golden with 1-finger frothy white head and a lively carbonation. Nose is funky yeasty malt, hops, apricotty fruit. Tastes complex, fruity and yeasty, with mid-palate hops, notes of florals, apricot, and honey, and a lively mouthfeel.

Dry, hoppy. Kinda weird. Not very high abv but its ok. Not very heavy of a beer but its ok. Not the best Affligem I’ve had but ok.

Clear golden pour. Smell is mostly banana, yeast-dominant. Super spicy taste, sweet, some yeast in there. Potent for the abv. Dry effervescent palate. similiar to brooklyn sorachi ace which I am drinking side-by-side as a coincidence.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a hazy golden with loads of tiny impurities and a white head. Spicy fruity and yeasty nose. Medium body, fruit and Belgian yeast - and then a spicy hoppiness reminding me of Sorachi Ace. Not bad. 040113

Poured out of a 750ml bottle into a snifter on New Years Eve 2012. Pours a crystal clear dark gold with lots of tiny champagne-like bubbles. There is a thin one finger white head but retention is good due to the plentiful carbonation. Aroma is classic Belgian Ale plenty of yeasty goodness giving off lots of clove and banana notes. Really nothing in the way of malt or hops is detectable on the nose. The yeast continues over into the flavor with clove and banana being nearly all that is present. Not sure about the quadruple hop claim on the label because I can’t really find any noticeable hops whatsoever. Bitterness is light with a crisp, drying mouthfeel leaving just a tiny bit of residual sweetness. Overall, pretty underwhelming as far as Belgian ales are concerned. Nothing wrong with it flavor wise, just nothing impressive. Not really worth the money or time.
