750cl bottle poured into tulip glass. This is one of my wifes favorite styles so I’m tasting her beer. Nice fig nose and good amount of carbonation. Dark brown with a nice foamy head. Taste is great mix of fig/caramel and something nutty, maybe almonds. Very enjoyable beer.

i like the dank reddish look of the brew with the floaties. sweet and kerosene like (muscatel)and then fruit like a sangria. otherwise as described with a dark malt character that seems controlled.

Draught at Cafe de Veldpoort. Nice amber beer with smallish persistent beige head. Smell is fruity and quite intense. Taste is sweet and malty, with a medium long aftertaste. Quite a good beer!

Maastricht.Dark ruby colour with a cream head. Fruity aroma with spices in the flavour. Finish is a bit sour
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 otakuden (1490) - Vero Beach, USA - NOV 26, 2010
Appearance: a few chunks slowly make their way to the bottom of my glass. Otherwise slightly hazy mahogany with browns and ruby highlights. Khaki head fades slowly, lingering as a thick blanket but no lace.
Nose: breads and brown sugar. Succulent soft juicy raisins and prunes with apples and pears proudly sporting their skins. Dark candies and fig newtons; dried figs.
Palate: soft with gentle dark breads; pumpernickel and yet not quite. Raisin loaves with more dark fruits underneath; prunes, raisins, figs. Light mild finish. Fig newtons. Apples and pears are up front and personal while sugar jelly candies flitter about. Tasteful interplay of light then fluffy then chewy, all at the same time and yet all different too. A delicate dubbel.
Final Thoughts: not as intense as some dubbels, she nonetheless is nowhere near lacking in the goods that liquid bread is made of. Truly tasty and exquisitely sessionable. Great with soft creamy cheeses.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 drowland (3570) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - NOV 18, 2010
11/15/10. 750mL bottle. Brown pour, red with lots of sediment when held to the light, under a tight fluffy khaki head that sticks well. Sweet caramel and toffee aroma with a hint of metal. Sweet malty flavor with a hint of metal playing with chocolate, coffee, and brown sugar notes as well. Nice!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Svesse (4215) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - NOV 15, 2010
(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with caramel, dark fruit and dark rye bread. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, brown sugar, dried fruit (raisins, prunes), dark bread and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, fairly sweet. Solid and reliable, but hardly adventurous.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TET (685) - FINLAND - OCT 30, 2010
A dark-brown beer with quite big and blond head. Aroma is quite mild, dark fruits, some fruit kissel and roastiness. Dark fruits, some roastiness with some spicyness can be found from the flavour. Easy and nice to drink, quite high carbonation. Overally mild beer; good opportunities, but there was too little for everything.
