3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 BarZigKin (510) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - OCT 23, 2010
Bottle thanks to llcooldave. Poured a chunky, dark amber body with a long-lasting fizzy ivory head. Aromas of light tartness, hint of candi sugar and some plums. Flavors of light malt sweetness, some raisin and not much else. Full mouthfeel with very active carbonation. So much that it interferes with some of the more delicate flavors of the beer.

Lively carbonation with sourdough breadyness up front...bitter yeasty flavours kick in and linger. Not very complex.

Pours "chunky" with suspended yeast in a dark amber background. Smells of baked spiced apples and tastes slightly sweet like fermented apple cider and raisin bread. Very carbonated.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 suorama (34) - Kangasala, FINLAND - OCT 9, 2010
When cool (8C) not much aroma or flavor or taste (metallic). When warmer (15C) chocolate sweetnes could be noticeable (aroma better (with yeast)). When warm (18C) aroma is best but taste are not so good than a bit colder. When beer is ~15C there is not much aroma but taste is average. Not for me. quality would be good. My all bottles taste same kind and there are bottles from diffrent batches.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 DenisLD (87) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 8, 2010
330ml bottle poured into my Chimay glass...
Cloudy reddish-brown colour to it. Rich and frothy light caramel head. Good head retention and same lacing. Looks pretty appealing to me!
The aroma is very malty, with strong caramel notes; also notes of cherries, plums, and toast. Some spice notes, perhaps, a little cinnamon or clove. A little funky. Overall, the aroma is not as intense as in some other dubbels I’ve tried.
Tastes moderately sweet, with a very solid caramel and bread flavour to it, followed by fruitiness (cherries, plums, apples) and some spice notes. The after-taste is a little dry and bitter, with a lingering cinnamon and clove feel to it.
Loads of carbonation. Medium-bodied. Quite spicy and a little bitter. Eventually it gets a little too spicy, such as it begins tasting boozy-ish. Not bad, but could definitely be better.
Pretty good dubbel. Even though it’s not that strong, I’d still probably call it a sipper. Goes down pretty smoothly, but the spiciness might get to you.
