Originally rated January 2006. Best before date is 22 06 07. This dubbel pours a deep red-brown which is hard to see through, except for the grape red highlights. The tanned head is lightly creamy, but goes away fast. Some crystal-foam lace is left, here and there. The first aroma I get from this brew is one of Oud Bruin, sour and vinous. Then, after sitting there a few minutes, it smells more like syrup, molasses, spices and hints of dark fruits. Still, a coat of lace tops the brew. The taste is nutty with mild bitterness and a dry finish. Good mix of apples and dark fruits. Notes of cherries with some of the spices. Not the greatest in taste and aromas for a dubbel. Still something worth trying from time to time. Gets better as it warms up, but still Westmalle Dubbel is better.

Thanks zvikar, Big thick moca head, clear brown to red colour, light malty aroma with touches of soapy flowerness, spice and herbs, flavour of sour dough bread, metalic notes and a light hoppy bitterness, long sour aftertaste, suprisingly light and not to malty in character, quite nice.

Dubbles are beers I tend to muddle through as I wish I was drinking a Triple. Big ass rocky foam above bright amber. Good lookin’ . The stench from this sang songs about..brown sugar.brown bread. plum. apple .peach .raw booze and hop florals..creaminess. Sippin’ this liqud its got a rich burnt caramel character. dark fruit ..and refreshing hoppiness. Chocolate earthiness . 4A Guy who doesn’t always dig dubbles , this wen’t down smooth.

Pours a murky brown w/ red highlights. Very aromatic...both fruity and malty. Taste has notes of caramel, bread, yeast, dark fruit and cough syrup. Long bitter-malt finish. Somewhat of an astringent aftertaste. A little thin. This is good but not great.
