750 ml bottle. Ruby brown in color with an off-white head. This ale has somewhat of a winey nose or ripe fruits and burnt cocoa. It is a well balanced ale with palate that starts sweet, yet tart, and finishes with a yeasty, bready alcohol character. Very good, yet unremarkable compared to the style.

Bottle from total wine. Brown pour, light tan head. Nice raisin, dates, figs, spice cake and yeast on the nose. Flavor is oh so smooth and nice. Fruity, some yeast, spices and a good mouthfeel.

pours dark cloudy ruby red with intense smell of yeast. flavor of dark fruit like figs and raisins with bready overtones. mild spicy finish. Hardly any alcohol bite. Very good abbey dubbel, at least on par with Chimay.

(750ml bottle from Twin Liquors on October 31, 2008) Yep, it’s an abbey. Murky orange/brown body, intensely sweet aroma, and just as sweet on the tongue... fruity, as expected. Nothing unique, but not unpleasant. I have to remind myself, though, to only drink sweeter (Belgian) beers like this when I’m in the mood for a dessert brew.

Amber clear with a rich creamy head. Slight aroma of oak. Very smooth and drinkable. carmel comes though. A bit too much alcohol. Lasting hops.

Bottle 33cl. Pours a clear red colour with a good size lasting head. Smells of raisins and spices, rather distinct. Taste is very warm and fruity and goes down with a nice alcohol touch.
