Bottle. Dark amber brown colour, beige head. Aroma of yeast, malts. Flavour is malty sweet, yeast, fruity. High carbonation. A bit dull.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheBeerBaron (261) - Florida, USA - AUG 10, 2008
Cloudy red amber color medium light brown head with not much bubbles seen in the glass. Sweet malt aroma at first but gives way to a wierd mold kind of smell. A definite rock sugar aroma noticed as well. Sweet initial taste transitions to a cherry tartness. Palate is light, not as bubbly as other strong belgiums. A well blended dubbel that handles its alcohol very well.

Poured a dark hazy brown with the typical dubbel head and lacing. Good aroma and flavors of malt, caramel, spice and a bit of fruit. Medium body makes it pretty drinkable. Pretty decent.

750 into bordeaux glass. Just a little yeast. Anise and peach stand out against a breadier background nose. Palate carries a weird bicarbonate tingle. Good but certainly not great.

A hazy dark red/brown colored beer, with a foamy beige head. The aroma has a little caramel malt and some fruity sweet, with a little spicy. The taste is malty with notes of raisin, coriander and a little bitter in the back.

Poured mahogany/ruby red with a generous bubbly head that had good retention and left great lacing. Aromas of dark fruit, carmelized sugar, and something like herbal tea. Sweet maltiness came first on the tongue, with dark fruits - prunes and grapes - and faint hops. Medium bodied, a bit watery, great carbonation, and a pleasantly dry aftertaste.

Tried at the Belgium Beer Cafe CHCH in NZ. Malty aroma with a touch of fruitiness. Beer was poored for me, but Poors a reddish-brown beer with a big head. Creamy palate, sweet malt tastes with fruit and spice. Probably could only have a couple of these but nice all the same.
