Rich malty and darkish fruit aromas. Dark brown amber color with lightly lacing off-white head. Medium bodied with lightly fizzy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt, darkish fruits and some brown sugar and spice! The finish is less than dry, but quite pleasant. It’s really very tasty and smooth.

750mL bottle purchased at Nugget (Covell), in Davis, CA. Aroma is kind of vinous, a bit fruity, with some anise present as well as some caramel aromas. The anise seems to be the dominating aroma. Perhaps this is a characteristic of their house yeast? Either way, I am not overly appealed by this. Transparent dark amber/light cola body with a manilla head that is medium and dissipating. Spritzy, carbonated, yeasty esters present to start, with some light anise and a touch of brown sugary sweetness in the middle. Finishes a bit roasted, burnt, and metallic. This is not really what I envision from a dubbel. Pretty mediocre.
