Creamy ruby-brown color with fair collar. Pilsener smell (malt) with little sweetness. Typical abbey taste, little strong, but not to much. Nice balanced bitterness. Also some flavours of caramel / licorice.

330ml bottle, served in a chalice. Pours a transparent brown, no visible carbonation, huge beige frothy head. Aroma is very yeasty. Hints of bubblegum, banana, orange, nuts, and watermelon (!). Medium bodied. Smooth, slightly tangy finish. Taste: Sweet. Notable taste of alcohol. Fairly complex. Niiiice beer.

Really like this. Caramel up front with some red grape in there as well. Buttery in the finish. Medium carbonation with a full creamy mouthfeel. Great stuff!

Bottle 330ml at Mendibil (Irun). Great beer. Aromas of caramel and citrus, with a hint of butter. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Brown, with a frothy head.

Smooth, yet watery. Barely any aromas, decent bitter hoppy flavour. Alright.

Bottle, 330ml. Pours a beautiful mahogany with a respectable beige head that quickly diminishes into a thin cap. Good lacing. Beautiful color to this beer! Aroma of caramel malt, some floral hops, minor alcoholic notes, butterscotch/taffy. flavour is sweet, with caramel malt some bread/coriander along with some subdued hop flavour. Medium bodied, oily texture with light smooth, but plentiful, carbonation. Overall a pretty good beer. Comparable to Chimay Red with more pronounced flavour but not as well balanced. Also it’s much dryer than Chimay red...

This beer pours a mahogany color with a perfect beige head that lightly retains and has a bit of lacing. The aroma is different from other dubbels I’ve had, sour cherry, sweet malt, caramel, and a very fruity/berry note to finish it off. Taste is phenomenal, starts with the sour/acidic note turning to sweet candy sugar, then berries, and finishing turning into a bit of maltiness similar to bread. This is a fantastic beer, very different from others in the style, but in a great way. Love it

clear amber brown ruby color with a big white head and some small floaties in suspension... nice retention and lacing... very malty aroma, dark fruits in a light way, not a great deal of complexity to the aroma, quite sweet molassasy... lively initially followed by a wateriness, dark fruits and sweetness brown sugar dominate the flavor... average for a double, way too sweet and malty with just a touch of hops... not much of the belgian candi sugar or yeast flavor...

This is a good example of the style. As others have said, it is quite complex, with spice and yeast notes. It is reasonably bitter compared to other belgian dubbels.
