3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Although thin-bodied and very carbonated (huge head), this one leaves a nice impression. A tad too sweet, but the flavors (some sour apple, some sweetish chocolate malt) are nice, and they get mixed around well as a result of the carbonation. Yeasty, but not over the top if you don’t go for that.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown pour with a lovely resilient head. Medium-strong nose of yeast, wine. As the last rater noted, rather foamy on the mouth, but with an excellent flavor and a nice warming feeling going down. Sour apples and maybe a hint of nutmeg apparent in the mix; a very solid Dubbel overall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours with a pretty good sized head. Fairly dark, reddish color. Yeasty nose with some alcohol. Comes to the palate a bit foamy, but it’s got a nice enough flavor--green apples, and some spiciness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep dark ruby color, generous fluffy beige head, sheets and sheets of lace. Nose is sweet and fruity, chocolate cherries, with the grainy freshness of the malts. Start is sweet, the top is thin, the finish is acidic, sour, some bitterness, alcohol, hops? not sure. I like this beer quite a bit, quite flavorful for being a bit thin.

One of the better dubble beers. Full of flavor.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Has potential, but it hung on my palate a little too much. Decent, but not incredible , fruity malt...not spicy or hoppy. Reddish color, nice head.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2004 Very malty flavors and very fruity with a subtle hop bite to give it that full complexity. Dry finish with an everasting yeast kiss. Adequate.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
One of the best of the ’abbey’ brews; caramel and chocolate intermingle nicely; warming. The slight bitterness neatly offsets the sweet taste. Do they make chocolate lambics? This comes close.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 23, 2008 Bottle@Home, Mar 08, 3.3: Malty and yeasty aroma with hints of raisin and apple. Light hazy, hazelnut brow, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, roasted, malts, light bitter, light herbal and milky. Medium and light sparkling body. Bottle@Home, Oct 01, 3.4: A sweet good drinkable beer. But there are much better beers of this type in Belgium.
