Bottle @ Grand Cafe, Schiphol airport. Pours hazy amber with a big off-white long lasting creamy head. Aroma is malty and spicy. Taste is dark fruits, weak sweetness, spices and raisins. Also some metallic in the aftertaste. Dry mouthfeel. Slightly thin texture, still a good beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Doppelganger (1383) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - FEB 21, 2011
Bottle, Valentines present from Traci. Thanks baby! Rich brown pour, lots of sticky old-ivory head. Black pepper, cocoa and leather nose. Rich and evocative, somewhere between a kitchen full of good things baking and an old wooden barn. Raisin and caramel flavors up front, a touch of buttered toffee. Bright tingly carbonation and a clean dry finish. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Corked bottle poured in tulip glass. Enjoyable, and very affordable. While its not the most distinctive dubbel ever, it is very solid by lacking in shortcomings. Dark brown with thick beige head. dark malts, desert spices, and a thick bready palate. Yum

7th February 2011 On Tap at some tiny dive of an Irish pub near the Dam square, Amsterdam. Clear dark brown beer, tiny white head. Light dry palate. Creamy malt, some ninerals. Crisp finish. That’s about it - depressingly average.

Bottle, 10C. Almost clear nut-brown with a good coat of beige head. Aroma of sweet toasted nuts, dried fruit, sweet-shop spices. Very sweet with caramel, dried fruit, nuts, some dough, then drying mildly spicy bitterness. Solid enough but rather anonymous.
