Pours a strong amber/tan color with a frothy beige head. Smells of spice and fruit and malt. Tastes as it smells initially, with it’s many flavors assaulting your tastebuds, but then leaves you lingering with an uncalled for bitter aftertaste. A decent dubbel.

Amber colour, clear. Medium head, weak retention. Smells sweet, caramel. Taste: very sweet caramel and malts. Then, strong carbonation ending in a short lived very mild bitter and sweet aftertaste. Little character or balance. Not impressive.

33cl on draught @ Affligem Café, Londerzeel. Aromas of chocolat, caramel, leather? Redbrownish, barely a head and immediately gone. Taste has some alcohol in it, chocolat, caramel. Fizzy and sweet alcoholwarmth. Light body.

[330ml bottle, The BeerHive, Edinburgh] Brownish-red, slightly hazy, beer with a large puffy white head. Aroma is leather, spices, wood, wet straw and stone fruit. Similar flavours, with the sweeter, caramel elements coming out towards the end, alongside a decent lick of alcohol [25042013]

Tasted 13/4/2013 draught at Cafe De Dam, Amsterdam. Poured a translucent mahagony with a reddish tint and with a one-finger beige coloured foamy head that diminshed quickly but laced OK. No obvious carbonation. Aroma of sweet caramel malts. Taste of sweet caramel and a trace of roasted grain. Light body. Smooth sweet dry finish.

February 2011. From a corked 750 ml. bottle. Pours redbrown with a tan head. Good dubbel characters but lacks a bit of structure.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel. Ditto taste, with a slightly sourish aftertaste. A nice one.

Decent Dubbel but needed a little more umph. Nice standard bready and malty aroma that goes with the style. Maybe some added spice. The color was a bread-crust brown with a small head that quickly dissipated. Malt backbone that was not heavy. A little sharp aftertaste but not distasteful. No recognizable hops presence.
