| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2010 Pours a hazy, caramel color with ruby highlights and a tall, bubbly, off-white head. Aroma has a very heavy cherry and apple fruitiness with a high amount of caramel, some light Special B malty notes and finishes with a biscuit and a light toastedness. Flavor starts off with a huge sweet caramel candy presence that fades to a tart cherry and dark grape middle and finishes with a dry alcohol and sweet toasted malt ending. Body is light with a very high effervescent feeling from the great carbonation. The head of the beer sticks around for a very long time and produces great lacing on the glass. Overall this brew was fantastic. Great fruitiness that is well balanced with the alcohol and malt combination late in the tasting. Aroma really sets the tone for what your about to taste. Notes of clove, pepper, spice, toffee, bubble gum, phenols, grape. Full bodied with lush carbonation. Quite yeasty, a nice mixture of esters and phenolics, well attenuated like all good Belgian ales. Pours a murky cider caramel brown with a frothy tan/cream coloured head. Aroma of spice, floral hops, yeast and sugar. Flavour of floral hops, yeast, brown sugar and light spices. Not really a fan of Christmas ales because there are too many spices but this one was ehhhhh...decent.
