Amber coloured beer with an off white big head. Malty, slightly sour aroma. Slightly sweet taste with a bitterness coming towards the finish. Rather carbonated.

Great looking beer, nice frothy head. Not as smooth and malty as I wish for in a Belgian brown (Westy it is not), but still pretty nice.

2002, 750 ml bottle. Very drinkable. I bought this for a friends holiday party, and so while not taking notes tonight--if I had, I think I would have been disappointed--instead rolling with the experience it worked well. The 8.5% abv hit me quickly, and the frothy head and palate made it very drinkable. Maltiness dominates, and no striking complexity or interesting flavors, but a classically enjoyable Belgian style.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2007 2006 bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (mold), with notes of orange peel, cola, metal shavings, and dirt. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic, slightly metallic. Quite generic in character, some minor flaws, but nothing horrible. A bit too close to soda pop (besides the alcohol) for my liking.

This was one odd beer. I enjoyed it, but was sort of surprized. The bottle mentions that it is a double and a triple in one. There is no better description. It looks like a dubbel, smells mostly like a tripel (apple, spice, light, sweet fruit), and the flavors are mostly a mesh, sort of like a spicy dubbel. Fascinating, indeed. Phenomenal, doubtful.

I was sorely dissapointed with this one. Clear dark brown in color with a medium foamy head. Aroma was very weak with sweet candy like aromas and spice. Flavor was also extremely weak and subdued with mostly malt throughout and some warm spice comming in in the aftertaste. It was drinkable and even enjoyable, but indeed a letdown from the triple.

Clear, dark copper body with creamy, small beige head. Light, slightly sweet aroma vague reminiscent of candy. Flavor is light and malty, fairly sweet. Slight astringence sneaks in at the end.

Nice nose, very Christmas. Nutmeg and candy. Flavor is very spicy, nicely caramel and toffee. Good palate also, full and creamy.

Rich caramelly aroma with milder yeasty tones--slightly estery--nice...Color is pretty reddish-amber; massive creamy head stays busy for the duration, leaving sticky lace in its wake...Flavor is excellently balanced combo of caramel, orange-tinged bitters, and spiciness...Body is nicely rounded but not heavy...This brew admirably satisfies the mission of a winter seasonl: it offers richness, warmth, fullness and balance...A very fine issue...
