750 mL bottle: poured a dark amber with large off white head. Aroma is of candied sugar and bourbon. Taste is sweet malt, raisons, candied sugar with slight spices. A great christmas beer without the overpowering spices that are in some.

Smells of Sweet dark fruits, belguim yeasts and nice seasonal spices..cinnamon and ? Tastes of some Dark sweet fruits, raisins, figs, prunes, caramels, good spices in the balance with a lite to medium alcohol presense. October 2007 Bottle. A roasty, malty, sour smell. Also hints off caramel. Pours a orange to brown haze. Beer is very lively. Thin head with lacing. A very rich beer. Bitter and notes of chocolate up front. Quick carbonated finish with notes of sweetness. Malty feel. Medium to full body.

Yeah this one kicks ass. Was brought to my house as a gift at Christmas and been sitting in my fridge. Finally got around to popping this open and wasn’t disappointed. A damn good Belgian ale that has alot of dark fruits, malts, and yeast, and some additional spices. Very good.

Pours dark amber/brown with a thick creamy two-finger beige head that retained forever and left very nice lace. Modest dark fruit aromas featuring dark cherries and plum as well as caramel, bread, earthy yeast, and alcohol. Flavors are similar, but the caramel malt is stronger up front with the dark fruits coming later. Delicate hops bitterness makes for a perfect balance. Full bodied, lively carbonation, creamy creamy smooth mouthfeel, and a warming alcohol flourish. Outstanding - worth the steep price.

Poured dark brown with a reddish hue, average sized beige head. Really nice malty aroma with some caramel sweetness and a good amount of spicy yeast flavors. Fairly sweet with dark fruit flavors. Tastes and feels a lot like a dubbel. Somewhat heavy mouthfeel, but smooth and drinkable. Nice touch of alcohol in the aroma and taste.

bottle 3 yrs aged...pours a beautiful deep brown color with ruby hues and a thick light tan head. great retention and lacing. aroma is complex with caramel, yeast, raisin, plum, light sourness, and winelike notes. flavor is more subdued than expected and has roastiness, light chocolate, and raisins. mouthfeel is silky smooth and the finish has a subtle spicy hop , is very warming and leaves me wanting more.

I had a 12oz. glass of this at Redcoat Tavern in Royal Oak, MI with Beerbaron617. This beer, is wonderful. It takes everything that a good Christmas beer should be, and multiplies it by 10. It has a wonderful aroma, lots of clove which is lovely and it’s married with raisin and vanilla. The flavor is wonderfully malty - caramel and nutty, but has a slight bit of hop which rounds the beer quite nicely. This is definitely something I would like to have more of.
