Stop #1 on my Cedric-led hop tour at Poechenellekelder in Brussels. This was a very nice beer. Great aroma with a nice balence of hops. Smooth and satisfying.

brugmanneke (222) - GERMANY - AUG 15, 2011
Dark golden color, hazy and with a fluffy head. Aroma is dominated by grassy hops with a citrus touch. A little grainy and hay-like aroma, probably from the malts. Medium bitterness that stays on the palate for quite a while, along with those grassy hops. I like that! Less sweet than other beers in the Affligem range that I have tasted, easily my favourite Affligem. Reminds me of Saison-style beers. Very nice!

Bottle Share. Good brew that pours a golden blonde with a nice creamy head. Hops and Malts are well balanced. Crisp and sharp with the right amount of bitter and citrus. Good brew

Lovely dark gold color. Yeasty undertones amidst a medium pale malt body. Some mustard seed and a clear hop end that I appreciated - leaves a sharp biting bitter like orange peel, dryish too. Quite good

yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 5, 2008
Tasted 04/03/2008. 330ml bottle fro Rumble’s, Wellington. Pours a hazy amber blonde, with an off white head that laces and throws off some spicy alcohol, green banana and barley sugar. In the mouth it is sweet and spicy, with the esters dominating and cleaning out the finish. Pepper and liquorice finish it out. Fairly highly carbonated. Peppery phenolics hang about. Simple and nice.

330ml bottle (Poirotti, Helsinki) Side by side with the ordinary Affligem blond. Rich orange, lively tight head. Light hoppy aroma. Body is succulent and very strongly but pleasantly hoppy. Clearly hoppy, but in a subtle and inviting way. A touch floral, very pleasant. Even better than the ordinary blond, except for the aroma, which is less complex.

My friend, who bought the bottle, gave it to me "ouch, this was strong". Thank you, Stefan, for that, because this is just a great beer. Lots of tastes and a rather typical Belgian ale.
