The king of the abbey beers. It is amber-gold and pours with a deep head and original aroma, delivering a complex, full bodied flavour. Pure enjoyment! Secondary fermentation in the bottle. (Temp: 8-10ºC)

Pour moi c’est un classique de la blonde Belge ! La robe est magnifique avec une belle mousse, en bouche une jolie palette arômatique sur le fruit et les épices : incontournable à mon avis .

33cl bottle on 13-May-2016 poured into a long stemmed tulip glass (Amsterdam). Clear pale golden amber colour with a medium sized white head. Medium body and carbonation. Nice sweet triple taste - bread, caramel malt, fruit, spices and alcohol. Bittersweet finish. A pretty good tripel.

300ml, mine was with 9% ABV. It has light aroma of fruit. Crisp and complex taste with bread and a syrupy floral sweetness. Excellent balance of elements hides the high ABV well.

The beer has a rather simple look. The color of the beer is a nice golden yellow. The beer has a tiny cloudiness in it. The beer pours a rather small layer of rough white foam, of which the bulk collapses quickly. Almost nothing is left on top of the beer. The smell of the beer is nice. The first thing that I’ve noticed is a nice banana aroma. This gives the beer a nice sweetness. There is also a nice bittersweet almond aroma, of alcohol. I also smell a touch of licorice and a little sour touch of wild yeast. The smell is nice, but it isn’t very special. There are better beers. The taste is nice. It also has a sweet fruity banana touch to it. I also taste a hint of roasted barley and licorice, which are only very mild touches. There is a strong alcohol flavor in the beer. The finish contains a little sour touch that reminds of wild yeast. The flavor of the beer is nice, but again my extremely special. Just good. The palate of the beer is also good. The bubbles could have been a bit larger though, to give the palate a little more kick.

Bottle 300ml. Amber orange colour with an average off-white head. Aroma with toffee, caramel and light yeasty. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar sweet with hints of nuts, lightly alcoholic taste. Finish flavor is sweet with a light bitter, average duration. Palate: full body, oily feel, soft carbonation. 240416

Bottle from the Royal Standard, Cambridge. Light to mid-gold, extremely clear. Not so much obvious carbonation. Y sat and slight must in the aroma, with candy sugar and a surprising but enticing whiff of sulphur. The sulphur is present in the taste as well and does a wonderful job of cutting the sweetness and balancing the drink nicely. Some pronounced hop bitterness in the finish also challenges the sugary taste. Not your average Tripel but certainly an enjoyable drink.

33cl bottle. Hazy orange pour with a tall but short-lived white head. Smells of Belgian yeast, honey, caramel, elderflowers and that oxidation smell common to most Belgian ales. The taste follows the same notes, bitter-sweet and quite enjoyable.
