3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very nice aroma reeking of yeast and pears. Pours big head which mostly diminishes. Moderate lacing. Unfortunately, the flavor does not live up to the aroma. Kinda one dimensional. Some yeast and spices just not enough to justify an exceptional rating.

Nice light golden color with an OK foam. This tripel isn't to distinct from the other belgian tripels but it isnt bad either. Some carbonation and a medium body.

Tripels so far all taste the same to me. That's not exactly a bad thing, they are all quite delicious. Maybe next time I try it, I can get past the excellent sweet taste and say something about the more subtle flavors.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
White foamy big head. Golden orange color. Aroma is malty with citrus, alcohol and spicy notes. Flavour is malty too with sourness and alcohol incoming. Finish is moderately sweet, slightly spicy. Medium bodied.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
High carbonation approaching champagne-like bubbles. Fruity, homebrew aroma. Coats the tongue with full malty body. Overall impression of yeast trub that reminded me of racking a barleywine off of that nasty waste in the bottom of a fermenter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer poured a golden color and formed a huge bubbly white head that left circular lace. A huge amount of carbonation is present. An aroma of malt, citrus and spices such as clove. A flavor of clove, slight bit of grain with a hint of the alcohol. The finish is light and a touch tangy no doubt reflecting the carbonation present

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
I first had this straight from the bottle, at an SCA event when I was 16. A local place started selling it, so I can rate it properly now. Deep gold, with typical abundant Belgian head which clings to the glass. Earthy, woody, spicy, with a vinous quality to it. The alcohol is well-hidden. Quite well-brewed.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a slightly cloudy, golden yellow color with a big white head that lingers. The beer leaves great lacings on the sides of the glass. It has a wonderful aroma of yeast, spices, and malts with a touch of peppermint that must be hops. Full bodied with medium carbonation, the flavor is malty and spicy, with a nice yeasty, peppery finish. The alcohol is well hidden. This is a great tripel that is smooth, strong, and wonderful tasting.

What a nice Abbey Ale. Wonderful taste and a good, smooth finish. I'll definitely be having this one again.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 12, 2005 Cloudy orange colour with a big beautiful head. Great fruity (ripe bananas, abricot, orange?) and yeasty aroma. Flavour is spicy with coriander and cloves. Full palate. Nice bitter finish. Rerate: I have added one more point to the palate as it is actually very impressive. This could be one of my favourite Abbey Triples.
