A bright yellow-gold color with a frothy white head that insists on lasting though the duration, a somewhat light, mild malted texture, not as rich or full as other Belgians, like Westmalle, according to a local beer distributor here in Chicago it is recommended with “sharp cheeses, sausage, roast turkey, baked squash, and amazing with peach pie,” so, having no pie, I pulled out some Swiss cheese, which adds a sweetness to the beer, giving it a much greater complexity to each sip.

Sweetish malt body, lacks necessary carbonation for this style. Drunk when tasting but absolutely substandard tripel. Does nothing for me.

Aroma: caramel and bread malts, sweet, honey, light sour and yeast. Appearance: clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: sweets build out, quite malty, some light yeast coming up, lively carbonation. Overall: very nice Tripel, well balanced, nicely sweet. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn.

Swaroga (1544) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JAN 12, 2015
Definitely one of the better Tripel style beers out there. Big point for being easy to buy all over Belgium. No fails and off flavors. It’s all about fruity esters, strong carbonation, good looks and alcohol which is quite frankly well hidden for this amount of alcohol. Well done.
