COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The king of the abbey beers. It is amber-gold and pours with a deep head and original aroma, delivering a complex, full bodied flavour. Pure enjoyment! Secondary fermentation in the bottle. (Temp: 8-10ºC)

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with an enormous almost overcarbonated white head, excellent lacing. Aroma of slight funk, spice and fruit - pears? Flavor begins malty, a slight sour twinge in the middle, and a spiciness that finishes. The alcohol is masked nicely by the spice and yeast presence, overall I enjoyed this very much. I don’t consider this to be an elite Belgian by any means, but it is a very solid beer, I don’t understand some of the harsh ratings.

33cl bottle from Gent. Well done tripel all around. Golden colour with medium yeast sediment suspended. Sharp, spicey aroma. Pleasant flavour that was spot on for a tripel. Would not have guessed the 8.5 ABV.

750ml Bottle. Aroma of spices, candi sugar, cloves, banana, orange peels, earth, and alcohol. Appearance has a lot of yeasty chunks. Burns the nose slighlty. Has a nice body, good head retention. Taste a little bitter but doesn’t linger. Smooth and sliky mouthfeel. Spice taste, sweet, creamy, rich and complex. Pretty good.

LIght and a bit wheaty in aroma, this is quite nice. A good light spice, witha faint bite at the finish. Overall, just solid stuff.

corked bottle 750ml - poured with a really white head and lemony yellow color reminiscent of some wheats I’ve had...a little overly carbonated and fizzy on the tongue - echoes of white wine - a bit astringent. Best part, in my opinion, was that the abv% was masked - not at all hot or even a hint that it was packing a bit of a punch...with all the Belgians out there to choose from now, I didn’t think this one was anything special.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2009 Deep golden color, dense creamy head with no lacing, lots of carbonation. Very light, fruity aroma. Flavor was maltier than expected, with a fruity, bitter finish. Slightly metallic. This beer did not live up to my expectations.

Lager’ish pour, nothing impressive. Light nose with a hoppy finish which was somewhat metallic. Disappointing, 92 overall is far too high for this, IMO. Extra .2 for alc content.
