Aroma/Flavour: caramel, bread, vanilla, fruit. This is either my #1 or 1A for abbey ales. So hard to find in Western Canada (only in gift packs), but an absolute treat. Smooth, the complex flavours include the caramel/vanilla hints I enjoy most, but I’ve had a bottle of two where a resin taste/smell can overpower them (maybe on the shelf too long, as people aren’t as familiar with Affligem products outside of Blonde here). Exceptional.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 suprchunk (802) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - OCT 7, 2011
Dark straw colored pour. Huge white head with plenty of lacing in its slow wake. Caramel and vanilla aroma with yeast, malt and alcohol. Sweet tasting maltiness. Caramel flavor with yeast. Sweet sticky mouth. A little dry. Not bad.

WTF - Heineken owns these guys? They’re a dreaded macro? Anyway, had this one on tap. Slightly hazed bright golden color with a well-formed one finger white head. The aroma is rather typical for the style with banana, apple, Belgian yeast, and sweet malt. The flavor has sweet malt with some fruity spicy estery yeast notes. Medium-bodied with a good level of carbonation. Solid beer overall, for a macro.

Aroma of banana, wheat, and lemon zest. Pours blonde with a big frothy head. Tastes of lemon zest, banana peel and yeast. Not the best but tasty.

Full, slightly sweet tripel. My first and actually the one I most often fall back on.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 Absolutely hands-down THE most flavorful and enjoyable Tripel that I have yet to savor! This brew was so delicious that I completely forgot to write down my tasting notes while I was enjoying it! Once I tasted this sweet nectar, everything else came to a stop!! Flavors of ripe apricots and peppery spices paired up wonderfully and all led to a tasty finish that was dry and tart. This one is more full-bodied than others that I have tasted and it doesn’t disappoint with it’s near-high alcohol content. Sit back and savor this one slowly because as it warms those flavors and scents just magnify and become more enrichly robust!
