Not your typical "Jelly of the Month Club" beer. Dark roasted malt and bittersweet cocoa and coffee flavor and aroma burst from this pitch black milk stout. The full body and sweetness are derived from the addition of lactose (aka milk sugar) which is not fermentable by beer yeast. A healthy dose of English Kent Goldings hops provides a counterpoint to this ale’s rich and complex maltiness.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma is nice with roast, chocolate, hints of cola, cherry and coffee. The flavor is the same. Nice cherry vanilla cola notes with some background notes of nuts, roasted malt and smoke. A bit more coffee in the finish. Pretty tasty, but overpriced.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking dark hazy brown really close to a black color. A one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than about forty seconds leaving some moderately messy lacing. The smell had a big luscious sweet milk chocolate with a superb roasty to robust coffee, maybe a lil bit of espresso running in to balance. The taste was mainly sweet with an ample back up of the roasty coffee to try and balance. A nice sweet to roasty blended aftertaste slides into a nice sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the roastiness to really grind out the feel on my tongue. Wait, did I say grind, haha, not really, this is so smooth with the roasty milk chocolate running into my tongue. Bitterness, oh what bitterness, haha. Overall, what a wonderful milk/sweet stout that I would love to have again. Oh wow!

draught@Erzbierschof; as Imperial Milk Stout - black beer with a long lasting beige foam; roasted aroma of dry coffee and nuts; a good malt backbone, sweetish lactic palate, quite thick yet creamy; long sweetish chocolaty and lactic finish

Pitch black color with brown foam. Coffeeish nose. The taste is sweet, undercarbonated, sticky and not too heavy and easy to drink. Dry, berry fruity aftertaste.

Black color with nice big beige head. Coffee, dark chocolate, plum, maybe vanilla. Taste is similar, but more on the plums side, rather light-bodied. A very good Stout!

The aroma is malt, coffee, slight chocolate. Pours almost black, tan head mostly diminishing, little lacing. The taste is a slight sweet and a slight bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Very Good!!

Enjoyed at home in a snifter. Pours a deep black with a very thin mocha head. Some lacing. Aroma is chocolate cocoa powder, graham cracker, nuts, roasted malts, marshmallow, and hint of vanilla. Taste is slight bitter chocolate, heavy roasted malts, sweet milks, vanilla, and marshmallow. Thick mouth like an oatmeal stout. Medium carb. Roasted, nearly bitter finish. Dry as well. Very nice.

Bomber pours an opaque dark brown/black with small tan head that quickly turns into good lacing. Aroma has roasted malts, mocha, dark fruits, and vanilla. Taste is sweet and slightly spicy with a drier finish. Body is medium to full with lively carbonation. This one is to be enjoyed slowly. I ignored the strange artwork and weird text hype on the label, and enjoyed it anyway.
