COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not your typical "Jelly of the Month Club" beer. Dark roasted malt and bittersweet cocoa and coffee flavor and aroma burst from this pitch black milk stout. The full body and sweetness are derived from the addition of lactose (aka milk sugar) which is not fermentable by beer yeast. A healthy dose of English Kent Goldings hops provides a counterpoint to this ale’s rich and complex maltiness.

Draft. Deep brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor follows with some light residual sweetness and a light mineral quality in the finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Solid except for the slight mineral taste.

Bottle. Nose is full of chocolate and coffee. medium sized, tight brown head. good lacing. Taste has a lot going on. starts with a mouthful and seems thick and sweet, definitely letting you know there is a high finishing gravity. Then starts to chow off some chocolate sweetness and slowly reveals a light coffee roasted type of bitterness, but only as a secondary thought. light hop bitterness. Extremely well balanced throughout the entire sip. No sign of alcohol. This reminds me a lot of the Caribbean stouts. Well, except those are a lot cheaper.

Pour is black with a good bit of mocha colored head. Nose has a heavy roasted malt, lots of berry sweetness and residual sugars, a fair bit of vanilla cream, and faint notes of milk chocolate. Taste has a lighter roast up front, milky vanilla cream, less sugars, a bit cleaner. Body is very creamy and soft, lower carb, a touch slick and thin.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black pour, with a tan head. Plenty of milk chocolate, cocoa, creamer, light roast, notes of dark fruit, and coffee. Silky mouth feel Nice stout, but not incredibly memorable.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee cocoa and light dried fruit. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee and light cocoa with a smooth dry lingering cocoa finish. Definitly overpriced!

Aroma is fruit/dark fruit, mild sweetness and a hint of roasted malts/coffee. The flavor is dark malts, dark fruit, mild sweetness fruit, very slight funk and a tart/acidic finish.

Appearance: near black, creamy light tan head. Aroma: relatively light, with cocoa, roast coffee, hint of vanilla. Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, general roast, light licorice and smoke. Finish: smooth and creamy, lightly dry. Notes: Just average for me, with a bit of smoky licorice character that felt a bit out of place in a sweet stout. Draught at Victoria’s Gastropub, Columbia, Maryland.

Unexpectedly stumbled across this in Prohibition in Powell Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Aroma is of chocolate but very light. Appearance is dark like old motor oil with no head however when swirled produced a tan head that vanished in seconds. Taste is excellent with sweet chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla, with a slight acidic presence. Palate is very good with a good amount of carbonation. Overall a very good milk stout and certainty recommended. Cheers!

22oz bottle poured at home. Black with thin ring of off white head. Licorice cocoa marshmallow aroma. Milky chocolate and a slight peppermint taste. Delicious beer well done
