Draught @ Protelariat. Inky black with small frothy tan head, mocha aroma laced with rum, slightly sweet espresso taste with strong alcohol overtones, low carbonation, medium bitter finish. Strong alcohol dominance.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Against The Grain. Very dark brown, almost black in color with some khaki foam. Lots of rich, sweet chocolate and vanilla. Kind of like a ganache and chocolate cake thing to it. Some sweetness of caramel, light smoke, and a bit of booze. The flavor has a bit of a boozy, green apple twang to it that I donít care for, but it does have good roast and chocolate flavors along with a fairly good sweetness. Comes off as a little bit dusty on the finish.

No head. Dark black. Real flavorful. Strong dark cherry chocolate flavor. Smells like fermented Mexican hot chocolate. Hard to describe almost a mahogany flavor. Luxurious piece of dark chocolate.

Rated on 10-03-2015 at 800 Degrees Three Fires, Fort Wayne, IN. When served, this beer has a small light brown head that mostly diminished, dark brown opaque body and no lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, and semi-boozy. The flavor of this beer is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and boozy The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. This is a very good sipping beer with a very good flavor. It is definitely worth trying and a beer I would drink again.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at the brewery, served in a snifter. Pours an opaque deep brown color with about a centimeter of tan head. Dark and somewhat sour berry fruits up front, with rusted metal, lactose, brownie batter, chocolate, vanilla, wet oak, and muddy earth. Thereís some booziness in here that I wouldnít attribute to bourbon necessarily. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a thin, metallic, sweet, and slightly tart mouthfeel. This was just bad. I had such high hopes based on the ratings (and the lack of Bo & Luke variants on tap that day), but this was not good at all. Something was clearly wrong. I canít believe they tapped this keg. What a disappointment.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma is roasted malt, barrel, chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Appearance is black, light tan head. Taste is barrel, really nice, vanilla, coffee, roasted malt, just really good. Mouthfeel is thick, great carbonation, not detection of the over 13% booze. Overall, this is very impressive.
