COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Orange Wax. Originally an Against the Grain Brewery and Brouwerij De Molen collaboration beer. For the first incarnation, De Molen head brewer Menno Oliver hopped in a muscle car and drove straight through from the Netherlands to Louisville, KY (that’s USA folks) to brew this bourbon inspired ale, and we liked it so much, we decided to do it again. We took the ingredients in bourbon whiskey (Barley, Rye, Corn) and then smoked them with cherry wood and brewed a huge imperial stout with them. Then to top it off we aged it in Pappy VanWinkle Bourbon Barrels. The resulting beer is rich, smokey and complex, with a bourbon character of caramel, vanilla and spice. Bottle has orange reddish orange) wax top. Only the first version was aged in Pappy barrels. on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque brown/black color, brown rim head, flares of lace. The beer is the consistency of Karo Syrup. The taste is heavy bourbon malt that is sweet, sweet, and more sweet. Edge and carbonation are very light, leaving one with dessert in a bottle. But like a rich dessert, 6 oz. is plenty.

On draft at FoBAB2014. Pours a dark brownish-- near black-- with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, wood, vanilla, some licorice. Nice smoke. Medium barrel and spirit notes. Some apparent sweetness. Full bodied with luscious mouthfeel, above average carbonation. Finishes smokey with bourbon notes. Pretty interesting.

Bottled. 10cl sample. Thanks for the share, Menno. The aroma has velvetty vanilla chocolate bourbon tar present. Black coloured beer with an off-white, thin head. The taste is light-medium sweet, has chocolate, tar, vanilla, wood, little hint of dried fruit. Great beer!

750 mL bomber. The pour is a dark brown work some good dark khaki head and a minimal lace. The aroma is very licorice based. There is a strong woodiness and a great vanilla. The smokiness is really profound here. Good roasty malt. The flavor is delicious. There is a wonderful bourbon character. The vanilla and licorice pop through the duration of the flavor. The love the dark fruits. The mouth feel is thick and viscous with a great carbonation and a lovely mouth feel. I love this beer. The aftertaste is smokey and bitter. Just great light vanilla and lovely bitter roasty tones. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
