This beer is not candy or mother’s milk. It is not brewed by gypsies or aliens, nor does it contain any zombie dirt. This is an American Style IPA brewed with Citra Hops. It is citrusy, sticky, hoppy and delicious. Simply drink it and enjoy it. Don’t hoard this beer, Citra Ass Down and drink it now.

(Online description:) This is a very hop forward American style IPA. Brewed with Pale, Vienna, Munich and wheat malt for a solid base for all American hops, focusing mainly on the variety “Citra.” Citra hops are a relatively new variety introduced in 2008. It was bred as a hybrid of a number of different hops, including Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, U.S. Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops. The resulting hop, Citra, has a distinct citrusy and tropical fruit flavor and aroma. In Citra ass down we used American Columbus for bittering and 11# of Citra at the end of the boil for late kettle addition flavor and aroma. Then we added 6 more pounds Citra and 5# Centennial post fermention for aroma. Rebrewed for your tasting pleasure!

Pour is a bright orange with a small white head. Aroma is a definite fruitier hop variety. Flavor is surprisingly a heavy dose of caramel malt with a mild sweetness. Hops come in again as a fruit like a ripe grapefruit. Finish is heavy and sticky with the malt. Decent beer with a heavy malt bill which I’m not really fond of in IPA’s. The hops are still here but not as big as I thought they would be. Also nice that this was in a single can as this brewers bottles are expensive.

Pours clear golden orange with a small white head. The aroma has tangerine, dankness, rich caramel malt and overall sweetness. It has a medium / full body with lots of softish sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with spices, citrus, alcohol heat and bitter hops. the finish has more heat. Okay beer.

On tap at Schouskjelleren, october 31st 2014. Cloudy yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of mango, grass, malt. Taste is sweet caramel with fruity hops - no doubt about the Citra in this one. A bit thick and sweet for my liking, which sticks through the beer, but as a double ipa it works well.

A vibrant sunset amber body is crowned by a half inch of tight white head creating a thin arc of lace above a solid ring

Mellow tropical complexity, silky smooth and balanced... Juicy, mildly drying, mildly sweet citrus and tropical aromas and flavors; grapefruit, mango, nectarine, pineapple, light grass and pine, mild sweet roll malt, all on an exceptionally smooth, somewhat soft, mildly creamy, coating medium body offering well restrained, tight effervescence leading to nuances of white grape in addition to residuals of the previously mentioned components... anything this may lack in intensity compared to bitter bombs is more than made up for with roundness and balance... crushable and flavorful

16oz can without date code, consumed week of can format release in KC, served at 45º into Orrefors Pulse Beer glass

Can on Vail. Pour is clear orange with a big white head and sticky lacing. Sticky, orange peel, citrusy, grapefruit skins, some caramel, bread, and grass in the aroma. Taste is orange marmalade, grapefruity, caramel, grassy, some onion, bread, and citrus with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Pretty good DIPA.

On tap @ Belmont Station. Thanks, Jer. Clear orange pour with white foam. Just really lacking in the aroma. Some hints of orange and pine...maybe a bit of grass. But mostly just caramel malts and some bread. A little bit bitter in terms of the flavor, at least some citrus peel and pine. A touch bitter, but mostly just sweet malts on this one.

Tall boy can. Clear deep golden pour with a small white head. Left some good lace. Nice and big juicy hop aroma. Tropical fruits, touch of caramel and sweet malts. Flavors didn’t quite live up to the aroma. Had some good citrus notes up front, mild bitterness, big punch of caramel sweetness in there. Touch sticky, oily and slick mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Lingering bittersweet finish. Overall pretty good if not a touch on the sweet side.

Clear gold. Fresh tallboy. Nose is fairly subdued for what I’d expect but still some nice dank and citrus elements. Fairly malty with a clear sweetness, but enough bitter citrus pith and pine to balance it out. Pretty good, but doesn’t really showcase Citra as much as I’d think from the name.

Pint can, glad I didn’t pay the ridiculous price previously for a bomber, pours a clear orange/copper with a large khaki head. Skunky citrus aroma and sweet caramel malt. Taste of sweet citrus, orange and grapefruit, some lemon, a mild resinous bitterness, with sweet caramel malt on the finish. Pretty tasty, not amazing, definitely glad i didn’t pay the $17 or so for a bomber before cans were available.

Bottle from Brewfest. Orange-hued hazy golden with lasting head and lace. Nice citrus and spice aroma with grassy grainy hints. Medium fresh peachy sweetness grassy with assertive grapefruit lemon spice pepper and resin finish that lingers. Medium body, light for abv, nicely attenuated. Fine carbo. Just beautiful all around. Really well balanced hop forward with pleasant and not pungent fruity sweetness. Excellent.
