COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our first Wet Hopped offering, this IPA is a balanced beer for those Fall hopheads. Wet Hopped means that it was brewed with fresh, unprocessed hops that can only be harvested in a narrow window of time each year and must be used very soon after harvest. A healthy IPA grain bill forms the base for significant but not overwhelming additions of American Apollo and Bravo hops. Look for piney and citrusy notes from those additions. We then tossed in a good amount of fresh, wet Centennial hops. They came right off the vines and into the boil. This adds a unique set of flavors and aromas not found in the regular hopped version. After fermentation, we then aged this beer on another dose of Centennial and Citra wet hops. This adds a cloudiness to the beer as well as a very prominent, fresh flavor and aroma that is sure to please any fan of American hops.

This change of pace for Against the Grain is a welcome addition to their bag of tricks. An enjoyable IPA fits in nicely between the light sessionable taps, the smoked handles, and the big imperial specials. Hopefully something like this stays in rotation all the time.

Aroma / Appearance - The orange coppery base is decorated by a starchy white head. Citrus glaze, grapefruit, and sweet hops are bright as if walking through a fruit orchard or greenhouse. Without being over the top it makes its presence known.

Flavor / Palate - Creamsicle, resin, and a solid bouquet of fresh hops are almost like drinking an alcoholic version of orange Fanta minus the carbonated soda water. The fluid mouthfeel binds everything together for a pleasing experience that is worth at least a sampler if not a full pint

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and dispensed to a Czech-pils glass showing a clear & bright golden hue, with creamy, off white head foam, and waves & spots of lacing. The nose was modest, with some mintiness, florals, and citrus. The taste was bolder, with some noticeable alcohol, and presented an assertive hop bitterness that was dry, earthy, citrusy, astringent and very lingering, but tempered just enough by some smooth malt to make it acceptably palateable. Almost overly hopped for the malt content imo, but finished to the last drop, as any dutiful hop head would have.

Tap sample. Poured copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate complex green citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture with soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium duration. Very interesting brew.
