Pumpkin Spice Ale
It finally happened. Jerry made a pumpkin beer. He hates pumpkin beers. Good thing this is the best pumpkin beer in the whole damn universe. A healthy dose of gourd-flesh in the mash and a bit more in the boil pair well with the spice-sac we dangled in at the end of the boil. Some gentle German hops help bitter up and balance out this ale. Suck the flesh. Pumpkin flesh.

On tap in a sampler glass. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel and light chocolate malts, a little pumpkin and spice, and some floral hops. Flavor a nice blend of everything without too much pumpkin. Average texture. A pretty good pumpkin beer.

Draft. Poured hazy dark pumpkin color with a large off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Medium to heavy pumpkin pie and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy pumpkin spice sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid seasonal beer.

Pint on tap at Dutch’s. Clear dark red brown color. Good finger of khaki head. Leaves good lace. Medium to bigger body. Good pumpkin character. Nice toastiness, touch of vanilla. Moderate spiciness. Touch of chocolate. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft/crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet, mild spicy. Very solid, tasty pumpkin beer. A bit spicy on the first small sip, but really nice and easy-drinking once I get into it, with a lot of complexity that comes out later.

Backlog rating. Keg at The Bottle Shop in Bermondsey, London. It pours an amber color with a small tan head. Aroma is lightly sweet and floral, herbal, with notes of sweet pumpkin and spices. Taste is sweet and malty, with notes of biscuit, caramel, spices, almonds, stone fruit. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, tasty

Euston Tap. Keg. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little soft with decent fine carbonation. Smooth sweetish dark malts, some creamy sweetness. Mellow cinnamon and cloves. Mild fruity pumpkin. Light semi dry finish. A mellow Pumpkin beer, and the better for it.

On tap at Bottle Shop London. Deep ruby colour lasting tan head. Pumpkin spice aroma. Then what is the base beer? A kind of american ruby ale. Some fruity malt but it’s still quite light. Fruity and spicy. Quite a tasty blend. Some sweetness from the abv. Actually one of the better pumpkin beers I have had recently. Ok.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear very dark brown, tiny rim head, no lace. Maybe this is a pumpkin beer, maybe it’s not. Taste is toasty malt going in, complemented by assertive edgy rough bittering on the swallow, and then a bit of pumpkin without the spice. As it fades there is the lightest bit of spice. A solid rough-bark brew that works especially well on a cold evening.

Growler: Nearly clear, deep red-brown with a small, off white cap. Pumpkin, coffee and wood smoke aroma. Flavour is roasty pumpkin, coffee malt, earthy spice. Wonderful....the coffee works beautifully with the pumpkin..... Excellent.

Tap @ Against The Grain: Brown-ish body with a ruby tint; very dark, semi-clear & topped with an off-beige collar around the edges. Mild aroma of toasted grains, light cocoa dust, & some caramel-like malt. Honestly not much pumpkin in the aroma, almost smells more like an original brown ale. Taste has some pumpkin spice, though. Gummy cocoa notes & toffee malts with a hint of gingerbread, clove, & faint cinnamon. Finish is mostly toasted malt with a light bit of earthy bitterness. Makes for a decent brown ale but the pumpkin spice is not prominent enough for a "pumpkin spice ale".
